On "Gilligan's Island" they never managed to get off the island, but there is a movie about the castaways finally get rescued "Rescue from Gilligan's Island". You can probably check it out at your local library or rent it, and if you don't already have it, buy it.

Well if they never got off the island on the Sitcom what was the last episode about? Actually if they never got off the island what was the purpose of the show?

The Last episode was about natives of Gilligan's Island were looking for a "white goddess", and Mary Ann and Ginger were the most likely candidates. Castaways assumed that the "white goddess", will be took back to the native's island to marry a volcano and then be sacrificed into it. When the natives see Gilligan mistakenly in a wig and heels they come to their conclusions.

That was the final episode before the series had cancelled, the reason why it was cancelled is the fact that the "first lady" of one of the CBS president, loved "Gunsmoke", some shows needed the boot and it was "Gilligan's Island".

I bought the Rescue movie from ebay. In Rescue, there's an exchange between the Skipper and Mr. Howell. As Mr. Howell is getting off the boat,a cell phone falls from his jacket.

The skipper says "I don't believe it Mr. Howell. You had a cell phone all along!" You could have used it to call for help!

Mr Howell says "Are you crazy,my boy and use my minutes?"

That's because they made it up...

Thanks for that.

The island-goddess episode was the last one, so the rescue never happened. Until....

1978. ("Fifteen years on the island, and we're finally rescued...")

Their clothes are still bright and new. There's a storm coming that will surely flood the island. They attach 2 of their huts together to act as a giant raft. It works. Gilligan falls into the water and is chased by a shark. You can see buildings and stuff in the reflection of the water (but I thought they were in the middle of the sea!?). "Nice" camera work...

They make it back to safety. But eventually they become disenchanted with contemporary culture, with it's declining morality. They take a trip again out to sea, and get stranded on the island again. But they are not so upset this time. Kind of depressing. Until...

A year or so later. "Castaways on Gilligan's Island." I forget how they do it, but they are found/rescued again. But this time they remain on the island, and the island is made into an elaborate vacation resort called the Castaway. Kind of cool.

Third movie: Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island. Don't remember much about this one.

I don't recall any of these movies winning, or being nominated for any major awards.

yeah....except the professor's shirt mysteriously changed color from white to blue.....hmmmm.....maybe he got tired of white and found some berries to dye it with.

The professor's shirt was always blue, even though it looked white. Once Russell Johnson made reference to his clothing: "K-Mart canvas sneakers and blue oxford shirt." So I guess it was just a really light blue.

Besides, why would anyone wear a white dress shirt with sneakers?

wow. i went and checked....and you're right. it IS a very very very very VERY pale blue. so pale that most of the time it looks white. wow, that's....weird or something. i could've sworn it was white. i feel stupid. lol

but at any rate....it still mysteriously changed color from very very very very VERY pale blue to darker blue.

i wonder why they always make it white in cartoons and stuff then? odd.

In the cartoon, not only was the Professor's shirt white, but so was Ginger's HAIR.

Don't ask me. I don't know.

LOL. They made Ginger a blond in the cartoon so Tina Louise wouldn't get pissy b/c they were using 'her image' since she wasn't involved in the cartoon.
Just trying to avoid any hassle.

LOL!!!! it's nice to know that somebody else finds that funny!!! i have a warped sense of humor. i heard about that "not wanting to get tina mad" thing and i busted out laughing. c'mon!!!! "her image?" i mean.....does she think she's the only one in the world with red hair? she has attitude issues or something. she didn't want to do the rescue movie cause they wouldn't pay her enough. poor sherwood was already taking out a loan and using his own money to help fund the thing....she couldn't be a good sport and do it for less? but NOOOOO..... "she's very expensive." give me a break! half the world probably doesn't even know she exists. talk about an ego. i mean...i understand the whole being mad at the show because it ruined her dramatic career thing and all....but get over it! the others did.

hehehehe!
Yeah...even though us redheads are a minority, there's still quite a few of us out there. LOL. The redheads totally bond at my school: there's four of us and our one religion teacher who are total buds. Its hysterical. At graduation we're getting a picture of the five of us together.
Look! I went off-topic again! YAY!

oh i hope not! i pity anyone who takes me seriously. i don't even know if that's possible!

the way i see it.....if nobody else is going to add anything to a topic....we might as well change the subject. lol
