View Full Version : Favorite Hollywood Episode?
CHUCK T 09-06-2002, 07:22 PM So what is your favorite episode which took place in Hollywood? (well lets expand that to include the episodes which included the preparations for going to Hollywood such as how they got the car, and Lucy learning to drive, ect).
Well almost everyone will pick "Hollywood at Last" better know as the Bill Holden episode, and why not it is a classic with Holden giving a wonderful performance. I love his reaction to Lucy's setting her nose on fire.
My runner-ups would be: Lucy Meets Van Johnson and the episode which takes place in Ethel Mae's hometown of Albuqurque where everyone thinks she is the star going to Hollywood!!
~LadyJess~ 09-06-2002, 08:09 PM Wow, this is so hard to pick.
I'd say my two favorite actually in Hollywood episodes are when Lucy dances with Van Johnson and "Hollywood Anniversary." The end of that episode is so sweet.
My favorite going to Hollywood episode would be "Ethel's Hometown."
Ricardos4ever 09-06-2002, 09:23 PM Gosh, there are so many great ones to choose from. "LA at Last" will always be my favorite, though. And honorable mentions go out to "Hollywood Anniversery" and "The Dancing Star". Those were just great.
baronzzz 09-07-2002, 12:32 AM I loved the William Holden episode.
And the stealing of John Wayne's footprints at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Also the Richard Widmark one where Lucy and Ethel go on the tour of movie stars homes and she climbs over the wall.
AND when she goes up to Cornel Wilde's room and then falls over the balcony.
AND when she gets Ricky let go from his studio contract posing as his agent.
AND when Carolyn Appleby comes to visit and they hide her glasses, then Lucy poses as celebrities.
AND the train ride home is great too.
(I could have done without the Tennesse Ernie Ford one on the way out).
Crimson and Clover 09-07-2002, 09:46 PM i love the one were they steal john waynes footprints.
ricardo/mertz 09-10-2002, 02:51 PM I like the Harpo Marx ep.
I am going to limit myself to just one. The Hollywood ones are some of my very favorites.

You named all of my favorites. :D
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 09-11-2002, 02:53 AM Well, my mothers would be LA @ LAST (its her FAV. episode)- just thought Id mention it because shes not computer savvy! lol.
Anyways...The 2 episodes with John Wayne! LMAO!
Also, I cant remember the episode or what its even ABOUT, but I love this scene: When Lucy is down at the pool and pretending to talk to a star (Don?!??!?!?! lol) and hes sleeping!!! Then, he looks at her and she just turns around and walks away!!
Oh! Well, since you expanded it, the train ride episode is my ALL time favorite!!
Barnabas1 10-17-2002, 08:22 AM "LA at last" and "The Star Upstairs"!
SPLAIN 10-17-2002, 10:14 AM I won't name the episodes, i'll give you specific scenes. Face to face with Holden in the restaurant, doing a ventrilaquist act with Bobby in Wilde's room, face to face with Van by the pool, and dancing with Ricky at the Mocambo, gets me every time!
Mickey 10-17-2002, 10:20 AM Wasn't there one on the trip to Hollywood when Ricky and Fred were arrested? I seem to remember Lucy and Ethel going to get them out of prison. Or maybe vice versa! The William Holden episode was very good though, and also the John Wayne one.
SPLAIN 10-17-2002, 10:25 AM Nope, i don't thin so, i do remember they were in jail once and the girls had to bail them out, oh i thin i've got it now, maybe you mean when they went through Bent Fork with Tennessee Ernie, but they were all in jail for that one, and it was on their way to Hollywood!
Mickey 10-19-2002, 12:54 PM Hmm. maybe. I'm having to cast my memory back a long way here, but I seem to remember a road trip, and Fred and Ricky in jail, and Lucy and Ethel going to get them out. Ethel complained that she had to get Fred, and 'couldn't I have the younger one instead?' I might be mixing some things up though! Roll on the later DVD releases. I wish they'd do more than two discs every three months!

dawsongirl 10-19-2002, 02:05 PM Uhh, let me see...
The One with Tennessee Ernie
The One in Ethel's Hometown
The One where Ricky forgets their anniversary
The One where Lucy thinks Ricky's cheating on her with those models
The One with Lucy and the Dummy
That looks like a Friends episode list. :D

Never seen that one.
SPLAIN 10-21-2002, 10:15 AM You won't have to wait too long Mickey, there's talk that the next five seasons will be released in boxed sets like they do for most shows like Friends!
Mickey 10-21-2002, 03:42 PM Yes I know, although apparently that's a year or so in the future. Boxed sets will be expensive though, because we're talking a lot of discs here! Chances are most British stores will consider them too expensive to be worth stocking as well. Wouldn't be the first time. I guess it's worth the extra hassle of trying to get the things though!

The Harpo Marx ep. It's just a cool episode. I also love the one where Lucy goes to the Brown Derby with Ethel and ends up getting pie all over some movie star...I can't think of who it was for anything!!! Someone please tell me who it was that Lucy did that to!
SPLAIN 10-22-2002, 10:29 AM How come nobody ever mentions the Cornel Wilde one with the ventriloquist under the table and Bobby drinking while she sings, that one's a riot!
