….the premiere episode was very solid and funny! I don’t know why it didn’t do good in the ratings! A very strong first episode! Loved it when Muriel got jealous over the transvestite neighbors fur coats!!!

It did great in the ratings and was ranked as the #6 highest rated show in it's 2nd season. ABC decided to mess with a good thing and switched it to Thursday nights during season 3 which proved to be it's undoing.

Fortunately it was picked up as a first run syndication show and got really good ratings for 3 more seasons (including the final Ted Knight show season).

I agree the pilot episode was funny and did a good job of introducing Henry, Muriel, and the girls moving into the downstairs apartment.
