The title of Youtube video should be "How Hollywood Didn't Respect Redd Foxx When He Died" as oppose to "Why" they didn't respect him since everybody knows why. Hollywood is all about business :)

Reading Michael Seth Starr's biography on Redd Foxx entitled Black and Blue: The Redd Foxx Story (https://books.google.com/books?id=a7vcX2uNPK4C&pg=PA145&dq=Saul+Turteltaub+Sanford&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiF1ZOThYCHAxWWj4kEHTyMDCkQ6AF6BAgEEAI#v=snippet&q=Sanford%201980&f=false), I'm now beginning to wonder if Hollywood "didn't respect" Redd Foxx in his later years because he kind of allowed himself to be blackballed due to his stubbornness.

Redd was apparently offered to guest host on Saturday Night Live, but he always turned the offer down because he didn't like the fact that they didn't pay much to host, which would've been about $5,000. Redd figured that he wasn't going to spend a week in his life for only $5,000.
