I experienced the "Accidentally can't afford entire restaurant bill," cliche in real life. I ordered roughly a $25 meal during Happy Hour and had a $10 gift card. I had roughly $25 before going to restaurant and I used my $10 gift card and had roughly $15 balance. I swiped my card at the card machine and I was declined. Me and the Waiter both thought maybe I didn't swipe the card right, so I swiped it the other way and was still declined. I was beginning to panic and I called my bank and it turns out a $100 payment unexpectedly went through, and I was now OVERDRAWN by roughly $75 when I had JUST had roughly $25 before going to the restaurant. I apologized and explained that a $100 payment unexpectedly went through and I was now OVERDRAWN by roughly $75, although I did have the roughly $25 before going to the Restaurant. The Restaurant was incredibly nice and comped the roughly $15 balance. :) Other less forgiving restaurants would have probably called the police for that roughly $15 balance!
