Considering Agent Carter was better than many other MCU TV shows (https://screenrant.com/mcu-tv-shows-marvel-ranked/), it's a shame it didn't finish on its own terms. Despite a third season not being confirmed, Agent Carter season 2 ended with a cliffhanger mystery while at least delivering closure for some other arcs. The show was canceled and therefore concluded with SSR Chief Jack Thompson being shot by an unknown man, who then took off with what seemed to be a file on Margaret "Peggy" Carter. According to writer Jose Molina (via Den of Geek (https://www.denofgeek.com/comics/jose-molina-interview-agent-carter-firefly-the-tick-weird-city/)), Thompson would have lived, and the shooter was to be revealed as Peggy's "nefarious" brother, Michael, who'd been thought dead.

But then what? Obviously, there was a whole storyline involving Michael Carter and his reason for shooting Thompson and stealing the file marked "M. Carter" that will likely never be canonically detailed. Even worse, MCU fans never got to see if Peggy's teased love interest, Agent Daniel Sousa, turned out to be her eventual original husband — before it turned out that maybe a time-traveling Steve Rogers was actually that husband all along. Most importantly, though, Agent Carter should have lasted long enough to show the formation of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the successor to the SSR, as intended.
