There was one whose name I forgot but it once had the teeny-bopper family group "The DeFrancos" pitted against some other family group doing things like hanging on to a greasy pole or having several members of the team ride something that was like an elliptical bike of today.

There was also another that had sports stars try acting out some scene and actors try playing some sport.
I know there was one with Don Adams as host and he had some known actor or celebrity act out some well known scene from an old movie with a person who is really trying to get into acting to see how well the screen test is done.
I think these were just "fill in" shows for the summer while other regular TV shows were not broadcast for the season.
I don't think they stayed long on TV but I have memory of them
Anyone recall their names?
It makes you realize that a lot of today's reality shows and especially celebrity reality shows (recently there was news that Lance Armstrong quit being on some astronaut themed reality show) are really a rehash of some of the silly stuff that were forerunners.

I have some vague memories of the Don Adams hosted show. But they weren't "known" actors, they were unknowns who wanted to break into the acting business. But I remember liking the show and thinking it was interesting when I was a kid.

“Don Adams Screen Test” was the series with a grand prize of an acting role in an upcoming movie. I don’t remember the DeFranco Family on it, but I wouldn’t rule them out.

The show you were thinking of was All Star Anything Goes, which was based on the British series It's a Knockout. The show had its toots in a summer series Almost Anything Goes and it did so well in the ratings that it spawned a kids version that was hosted by Soupy Sales.

I do remember All Star Anything Goes. The show was hosted by Bill Boggs and featured Los angeles sportscaster Jim Healy calling the play-by-play. Also on the show was scoregirl Judy Abercrombie.

"had its toots?"

Sorry. It was a typo. I meant "the show had its roots."
