My Favorite Martian was also added, but it has been over a year since it was. merlinjones 08-06-2023, 11:29 PM What's the deal with Antenna's Sunday AM schedule? Sometimes Jeannie. Bewitched and That Girl are on and sometimes it's Silver Spoons or something else like that. But it isn't noted in schedules. It seems like every month or so they have a mini-marathon on Sunday. When they do it seems to be an 80s show. I think the one before Silver Spoons was Benson; they always start at 8 am. Merry24 08-30-2023, 06:59 PM Has anyone heard if they will be making any Fall 2023/4th Quarter Schedule Changes? Thank you. JonathanM 09-03-2023, 03:24 AM I've been wondering about this, too. They used to tease the acquisition of new shows, sometimes months in advance; now we're right on the cusp of their fourth quarter, and there's no sign that any changes are coming to the lineup. I used to enjoy watching this network, but it's been a stale couple of years and I wonder if Antenna TV is about to be phased out of existence. That Girl has been in the 2 PM weekday slot for years, and Soap airs for about four hours straight on late Saturday nights/early Sunday mornings. (That's an exaggeration, but only a slight one.) And then again on Sunday afternoons. For me, at least, the inescapable impression is that the channel is on its way out. If Antenna does stick around, I hope they'll commit to a couple of time slot changes. It's nice that they brought back Bachelor Father and Too Close for Comfort, but the former airs too early for me to watch it (weekdays at 7 AM) and the latter is easy to miss on Saturday afternoons. Meanwhile, you can't get away from That Girl and I Dream of Jeannie. The least they could do is to shuffle the existing roster of shows around a little. icecream 09-03-2023, 04:48 PM What's the deal with Antenna's Sunday AM schedule? Sometimes Jeannie. I liked the Silver Spoons idea. They've never tried anything from the 80s there. Svenfan1234 09-04-2023, 01:33 PM I hate to be the Debbie Downer here, but I don’t think we’re going to see any changes for the rest of the year. If we were, it’s Labor Day, we would have heard of fall chances by now and if there were new acquisitions, surely we would have heard of those by now! Antenna has almost taken the Laff route by just going on autopilot minus the marathons, obviously. Maybe we’ll see something in the New Year, that’d be nice, otherwise I don’t see anything changing for the forseeable future. icecream 09-04-2023, 01:53 PM Antenna has almost taken the Laff route by just going on autopilotAntenna TV still has a lot more variety than LAFF. Merry24 09-04-2023, 02:49 PM I don’t know my friends it might change. I remember reading a post saying that the antenna tv Christmas Collection Schedule will be the regular schedule highlighting Christmas episodes. The event takes place December 24, Sunday the current Sunday line up has blocks of Family Ties and Soap and Designing Women and I don’t believe they have that many Christmas episodes unless plans have Changed since that post. I doubt there will be any new content in 2023. Although Regular Schedule Changes-Returns are possible especially as we get closer to the Holiday Season but time will tell. Yeah, it feels like they're not putting much effort into the channel these days. I suspect that there's a financial issue, too, which is why we haven't seen any variation in a long while. I wish they'd take a chance on a couple of public domain shows (surely there's room for something like The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, perhaps back-to-back with Father Knows Best or Hazel?), but we're living in a thoroughly anti-experimental time, and the trend is to run a handful of shows into the ground rather than attempting anything new. Svenfan1234 09-04-2023, 06:25 PM I suspect Nexstar, Antenna’s new owners, significantly cut Antenna’s budget when they took over. The marathons are repeating shows they already air so there’s no new money being used for them. My Favorite Martian is the last new show added in May of 2022! It’s been a full year and a half since Antenna added anything new! And since they are likely — at some point — losing shows to Me-TV and Catchy Comedy (think Bewitched, IDOJ, Jeffersons, One Day at a Time, Alice…) it’s not a good sign for Antenna. They used to add a lot more new shows. JonathanM 09-04-2023, 06:37 PM I suspect Nexstar, Antenna’s new owners, significantly cut Antenna’s budget when they took over. They used to add a lot more new shows. Agreed. Antenna has been my favorite vintage TV channel for more than a decade (I especially enjoyed the programming during the channel's infancy, when they aired films like the Monkees' Head or The Haunting of Julia in addition to the sitcoms), but I worry about its future. icecream 09-11-2023, 05:24 PM Antenna TV does have a new show coming in October: America's Heartland Classics as part of their E/I hour. Rest of the 4th quarter schedule officially remains the same. Really though, even if they don't have new sitcoms coming their lineup is still full of variety with several all time greats. Merry24 09-11-2023, 09:27 PM I still think that it’s possible that antenna tv could make changes. Perhaps an update in November? Only because I read that antenna tv Classic Christmas Collection is on December 24 Sunday and it said it will be the Regular Schedule and if that’s true there only going to be showing a handful of Christmas episodes on Christmas Eve (Sunday). Perhaps General Sitcoms Message Boards daily blog will give us insight to antenna TV’s programming schedule updates for the rest of 2023 and Holiday Programming Schedule and insight into antenna tv’s tentative plans for 2024. icecream 09-14-2023, 12:12 PM Antenna TV's current lineup on Saturdays from 6-9PM is Too Close for Comfort, Welcome Back Kotter, and One Day at a Time. Today's episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? had a question about which sitcom popularized the phrase "up your nose with a rubber hose". Those three shows were all options, along with Sanford and Son. The question goofed though saying 1970s sitcoms, Too Close for Comfort did not premiere until 1980. |
