Albert from Little House on the Praririe. Started out as a cute, lovable kid and eventually became a baby murderer and drug addict. Charles Knox 08-05-2023, 09:23 AM Albert from Little House on the Praririe. Started out as a cute, lovable kid and eventually became a baby murderer and drug addict. Sounds like the Darth Vader of Little House. ThisLittlePiggy 08-05-2023, 11:46 AM I hated that they ruined Albert for me. icecream 08-05-2023, 01:23 PM Eric Matthews on Boy Meets World. He wasn't a total moron until going to college. TMC 08-05-2023, 07:13 PM 13 TV Characters That Went From Great To Terrible (https://screenrant.com/great-tv-characters-ruined/) TV characters are most often liked by the audience, bringing them relatable emotions. However, sometimes the character goes from great to terrible. Charles Knox 08-05-2023, 10:26 PM Eric Matthews on Boy Meets World. He wasn't a total moron until going to college. I think that is more of a character flanderization. Probably an example would be Charlie Sheen's character on Two And A Half Men. dee2364 08-06-2023, 07:04 AM I just rememebered another one: I didn't see this personally but heard about it, because complaints about it went viral on YouTube. There was this eccentric, yet likable character named Phlox on the TV show, Enterprise, who was the resident doctor. In one episode, he decides to commit a form of genocide by refusing treatment to an alien species, based on the idea that they'd be dying out anyway because of evolution. This not only ruined the character for many viewers but the show itself! stevea 08-06-2023, 07:39 AM A "sort of" situation: Jake on Two and a Half Men. He was a normal little kid who seemed to do OK in school and was of average intelligence. They basically turned him into a total jackass by the sixth season. principehomura 08-06-2023, 09:25 AM Darlene Conner in The Conners She really get worst with each season, totally focusing on herself; but above her attitude towards family and partner, she's not even 1/10 as wit or funn as earlier. The scoobies in Buffy Everyone of Buffy's gang, except maybe Dawn, really gets annoying from season 6, and especially in season 7, making it unwatchable. blueberrymuffin 08-06-2023, 09:35 AM Darlene Conner in The Conners She really get worst with each season, totally focusing on herself; but above her attitude towards family and partner, she's not even 1/10 as wit or funn as earlier. Are you counting The Conners too? If so, I agree. In the original series, she didn't seem worse off than the rest of the cast since I felt they all decayed in terms of characterization by the end of the series. 70s show watcher 08-06-2023, 02:52 PM how about dan conner on roseanne he went from being a great if somewhat wihney husband and father to a self serving s o b who cheated on his wife and could not care less about anyone but himself dee2364 08-06-2023, 03:17 PM how about dan conner on roseanne he went from being a great if somewhat wihney husband and father to a self serving s o b who cheated on his wife and could not care less about anyone but himself Almost all of those characters were assassinated! The only person who made it out alive was David. They ruined Dan so much they decided to kill him off in the original series. The show only brought him back because everyone loves John Goodman, but if no one had cared about him, Dan would've stayed dead. Becky was supposed to be a nerd but then they made her a trailer trash bimbo and airhead and made Darlene the nerd. The show turned Dan's father and DJ racist (but then made up for it in The Connors). Jackie was just funny and quirky in the beginning but became a cartoon character over time. merlinjones 08-06-2023, 06:43 PM Darrin Stephens from charming neurotic (York) to cranky bore (Sargent). icecream 08-10-2023, 10:47 PM For recent shows, Al on United States of Al in the 2nd half of season 2. He went from likable, funny, and principled to horny and crude. :( opus 08-11-2023, 12:06 AM When they assassinated the Paul Benjamin character on All In The Family, that one was pretty bad. "Wholly jeez, that's Paul...they blew him up in his car" 293541 Edward216 08-11-2023, 01:20 AM Sounds like the Darth Vader of Little House. Uh, didn't Albert accidentally start a fire that killed the baby? It wasn't intentional, that's what I remember anyways. Ed. 70s show watcher 08-11-2023, 05:29 PM Albert from Little House on the Praririe. Started out as a cute, lovable kid and eventually became a baby murderer and drug addict.odd enough when he first introduced himself to charles he said something along the lines of my name is albert im a bastard and even though he meant it in a different context by the time he left walnut grove for burr oak ia i bet alot of people in walnut grove were thinking the same thing that being said i always liked albert factsoflife 08-17-2023, 02:43 AM I mean Toby from The West Wing with the whole leaking classified information storyline was so contrary to everything he believed in and was clearly just character assignation. TMC 09-02-2023, 06:21 PM Eric Matthews on Boy Meets World. He wasn't a total moron until going to college. Five TV Characters Who Went From Being Reasonable People to Complete Morons (https://popculturereferences.com/five-tv-characters-who-went-from-being-reasonable-people-to-complete-morons/) ERIC MATTHEWS ON BOY MEETS WORLD Like Chrissy, I will definitely concede that Eric Matthews was never meant to be a SMART character on Boy Meets World, as he specifically struggles with his grades when the show began, and a regular plot in Season 2 was whether Eric would even be able to ATTEND college, let alone get into a decent one. However, Will Friedle was such a talented improvisational actor that the writers kept writing him these weird jokes, and he NAILED them, so they just kept going weirder and weirder, and eventually, despite actually getting into college, Eric was just a moron by the time the series ended. Just a complete joke of a character. He was still funny, though!
