Did anyone tape the 40th Anniversary of the Improv that aired on NBC last night? They had advertised that there would be a clip of Freddie and I missed the first 20 minutes where They must have shown him.
Was anyone able to catch the show or by chance tape it?

Arrgh! I need a copy too! We are desperate! I had no idea this was on. On Tues we go meet Hubby Mikes cousin & her hubby to eat & then go to the mall & get groceries. Even if it was advertised I wouldn't have been able to see it cuz I just looked it up in our TV GUIDE & they showed Billy Graham the preacher instead of it. I love Billy Graham too but they should've waited & showed him after this was over. I could've tried to see if I could get Ch. 10 the NBC channel from Norfolk but alot of times we can't get them & it would've been my luck they wouldn't have come in. Sometimes we can get the satellite feeds from NBC on our big satellite dish but it'd be my luck they wouldn't come in. :(

Man I wish I had known. My folks have gone to Nags Head this week to their condo there they go to a few times a yr & when they aren't staying in it it gets rented out to tourists. They get Ch. 10 down there & if I had known, I could've gotten my Mom to have taped it. The Ch. 10 listings for it don't mention Freddie in it tho. Man I am upset about missing this!!!! :(

I bet that's why ya'll missed it. Billy Graham. I need him to pray for me now LOL! Cuz I am so upset over missing this. Sure Hope NBC shows this again... Sigh...

I searched for info on this on the net & everywhere I go that is supposed to have info on it, it is not there cuz it has todays shows instead of yesterdays shows. Yuck! :(

Woo-Hoo! I am definately gonna watch & tape this. I wish I had known about it the first time. I remember I didn't know about this untill I read about it on here after it was over with & later found out our NBC local channel pre-empted this for a Billy Graham special. I was so scared they would never show this again. It lists Freddie in the TV GUIDE...

My hubby won't be too thrilled tho cuz see. We had made plans to eat out & go to this one mall (In another nearby town) on Sat like we do on most Sats. Well we had also decided we'd go to a 2nd mall in this town & a bookstore too. (He wanted to go to the record store & Redskins ball team store). We can't do all that & get home by 8 PM unless I got up super early in the AM & rushed half to death so now I gotta tell him we can only go to eat & Cloverleaf mall & have to skip Chesterfield Mall & the bookstore cuz I gotta be back by 8 pm to see it. He will squawk well why can't ya tape it & watch it later. Well I have to watch it live when I tape it or I will be worrying sick as to what was on it & if the vcr got it or not. Besides I will bring it up to him there have been nites he had to hurry home soon & cut things short cuz of a ball game...

Thanks for the heads up! :)

Well I taped the whole show and NO FREDDIE :crying: WE WERE ROBBED!!!!! I did notice that Jay Leno did have something nice to say about Freddie, but I am not happy that they could show a clip from Freddie's HBO special, but not of the star of that show, FREDDIE!!!!
I got on the IM with Mariposa and we were mad together. Then I had a brain storm, as I was listening to my copy of Loooking Goood! (I needed my Freddie comedy fix). I looked up HBO's web site and found a place to write to them. Both Mariposa and I wrote seperate letters requesting that HBO release "Freddie Prinze and Friends" on home video. I think all of Freddie's fans should write them. The URL is http://www.hbo.com/corpinfo/talktohbo.shtml
Please, everyone, WRITE, and get all of your friends to write requesting this show!!!
Muchas Gracias amigas!!!!

Then I wasn't going nuts after all. I watched this & no Freddie & wondered if I was going nuts or what? We went to town today & ate out at a Mexican restuarant (Lotsa Freddie fantasies there LOL!). The off to 2 malls to enjoy the day. I had to rush like crazy to get home in time for this. I get in the house just in time, turn on the tv & it immediately comes on & I start taping it live. I had the timer set up to tape it by timer just in case something happened & I got delayed. I had to go to the bathroom really bad cuz the only time I had been since I left home was just after we finished eating lunch at the Mexican restuarant. I needed to go later but it would've made me late getting home for the show. So shopping or bathroom which one will it be LOL! So after getting home & turning on the tv, I run to the bathroom for a sec real quick while Jay is coming on. When I am walking back to the tv & hear him getting ready to mention Freddie & run as fast as I can to hear it.

Anyway I was so excited to see this & then NO FREDDIE!
:(  I can't figure out why they didn't show any clips of him in it when he was mentioned on it & the TV GUIDE listed him as being in it. :( Talk about deceptive advertising LOL! But this was sooo upsetting!

I just know Freddie is up there in heaven very upset over this. I have a nice B&W pic of Chico & Ed that I bought off of E-Bay the other year & put on the wall behind my puter to the left of it inside of a picture frame. I looked at it & could just sense that he is very upset over this. He is mad that they have forgotten him. A small mention is not enough. Andy Kaufman (Latka of TAXI) is dead too & they showed clips of him on there so why not with Freddie. Jay Leno was the only one who remembered our beloved Prinze. :crying: I remember a preacher in church once saying that the dead folks look down from heaven & can see us & if they see something that displeases them they are very upset & look down with disapproval. Freddie is looking down with disapproval & is very angry. I just told my hubby I wouldn't be surprised if a thunderstorm comes up somewhere in the US courtesy of a very angry Freddie... :( Yes we have been robbed courtesy of NBC Freddies very own network he worked so hard for... :(

FREDDIE PRINZE IS NOT FORGOTTEN . HE IS THE WORLDS GREATEST COMIC!!!! :)

:(:(:(:(:( I feel sooooooooooooooooooo bad about this because I'm the one that made a deal about it being back on! Ladies I promise that if I had known what was gong to happened I would never have gotten all your hopes up so high. I know I had nothing to do with the show itself, but I really feel so bad about the way it turned out.
I made this little wallpaper to try in some small way to make up to you and again I'm so very sorry!

Dani,
We understand ... Yeah we all were bummed out that Freddie only was mentioned but not shown. I am just grateful that you reminded us of the oppertunity to see the hopeful event!

Thank you Dani for such a great creation honoring Freddie appearing at the Improv! I love it ... and I know that deep down Freddie is loving your tribute too!

Dani,
It wasn't your fault, amiga. The TV Guide listed his name among the performers being featured. How were you to know that this would be false advertizing.
Thank you so much for the wallpaper. I love the ghost image. I think that if Freddie would haunt a place, the Improv would be it, not only because he performed there many a night, but maybe because he is upset that he wasn't included in the show. I noticed that many of the performers shown in vintage clips were actually performing in other venues (other than the Improv) I don't think they do too many tapings at the Improv. And as Jay Leno pointed out last night, Freddie's HBO special "Freddie Prinze and Friends" was the first conedy special on cable. So I guess that makes him a pioneer, both for comedy cable specials and having a show taped from the Improv. It is a shame, with such a milestone for the place, it wasn't included more in the anniversary show, especially the star of that show. :( Just goes to show you that we could write a better show any day of the week, right ladies! ;)
I want to remind everyone to go to the URL for the talk to HBO site http://www.hbo.com/corpinfo/talktohbo.shtml
and write them a letter requesting "Freddie Prinze and Friends" to be made available on home video. Thank you!

Don't feel bad. It's not your fault, it is NBC'S & TV GUIDES for listing him as being on there when he wasn't. Love the new wallpaper! :)

Dani,
That wallpaper is bella!
but please don't feel bad it is not your fault it is the creaters of the program.
I emailed hbo through the link that Lucky provided and i asked them to air Freddie and friends to introduce a whole new generation to this gifted comedian and perhaps his son as well.
thank you for the wall paper and please don't feel bad:wave:

Hello,

to all Freddie Fans, we were gypped. The special which they claimed had a vintage clip of Freddie did not produce such. Jay Leno, one of the hosts, came out and said he was introuduced on the Improv stage in 1976 on the HBO cable special Freddie Prinze and Friends. Leno mentioned about Freddie Jr being a big star, and his father being a trmendous performer. That was as far as it went. There were no clips of Freddie included in the show, I would, along with others, like to know why ?

I would like to know too. It is so unfair! They seemed to have more of the younger comics & the only older ones seemed to be Woody Allen, Jay Leno, Rodney Dangerfield, Richard Pryor & Andy Kaufman who was Latka in Taxi. NBC & TV GUIDE should not advertise that someone is gonna be in there & then they are not! GROWL! GRRR! Once again Freddie has been left out & not given the acclaim he so deserves. I am so glad Jay Leno paid tribute to him. He seems like a nice person to meet & like someone that would be interesting to talk to about Freddie. So sad only one person remembered him. & What about Bud Friedman who ran the place? He should've remembered Freddie. Or have they forgotten he died? Or maybe they think it's too controversial to mention his death due to the fact it was a suicide. They forget he has a mother & a family he left behind & lots of adoring fans like us! & We want him to be remembered & seen on tv! So sad...

I won't forget you Freddie... I am so glad you guys have kept on remembering him here & on the other Freddie sites, message boards & e-mail groups etc & didn't drop him like a hot potato after TVLAND cancelled CATM. I would hate for it be like it was after they cancelled CATM in 1978 where he was never mentioned again until TVLAND showed the CATM re-runs... Keep up the good folks in remembering him folks! :) It's up to us to keep his name alive as he wanted cuz no one else will do it other than Jay Leno...

I agree Cheryl and there was a perfect spot to have a clip following George carlin's clip because Bud Friedman had commented on how talented Goerge was for he wrote his own material, well dah!
SO DID FREDDIE!!
He should have been mentioned.

Thank you!:):loveya: I knew that I wasn't personally responsible, but still I felt bad about mentioning it and then it went bust. I hope that in the future when he's advertised to be in something, he is there!:smash:
I hope that you're right Hue_mee!;) I hope he does enjoy it!
