I honestly thought, at SOME point over the past 15 years, Supernatural was going to give us a scene or minor plot line where Dean temporarily became Castiel’s vessel. But since, at the time I’m posting this, the series finale is days away, I think it’s safe to say that won’t happen at this point.
This would have made SO much sense, and it feels like they did a lot of groundwork to set it up. Both on a practical and emotional level.
I also tie it into a mini-discussion on angels and gender.
And while this definitely could have been a Destiel thing, it wouldn’t necessarily HAVE to, you know?
I could have made this video a lot longer by including other points in the series when it would have made sense for Dean to volunteer as Castiel's vessel, but I tried to keep it concise-ish. (For example: In Season 11, when Lucifer was occupying Cas' body, it would have made sense for Cas to jump ship and seek a new vessel. Then we still could have had Misha Collins in the episodes, while seeing Cas in a different body -- ideally/likely Dean.)
