WEDNESDAY on Netflix follows Wednesday Addams as she becomes a teen girl detective at Nevermore Academy and finds herself at the center of a mystery only she can solve.
Up front, there are three things you need to know:
1) I really liked this show.
2) Wednesday Addams is definitely a Mary Sue.
3) That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I explain exactly why she’s a Mary Sue – and how that doesn’t make the show any less good.
A lot of people only call out a character as a Mary Sue when the work was bad, as if that character was solely responsible. So I think it’s interesting to point out a Mary Sue in a show that was both well-constructed and overall enjoyable.
