I know ! It's been all over the news today! Sad ! :( Many prayers for a full recovery and hoping he can continue pursuing his basketball career ! ;)

I swear in all my years on this earth and I followed basketball the most during my sports years, I don't ever recall hearing cardiac arrests in so many young athletes, his future?? hard to know, once a person has any kind of heart issue, it's a lifetime issue.

I know you've followed basketball for 70+ years since the days of Jerry West and Gail Goodrich. I'm surprised you don't recall hearing about cardiac arrests in so many young athletes. It's almost as if you don't really follow sports at all. It has been happening long before the last 2-3 years.

Well TJ guess I didn't follow enough of the players health issues. I followed Joe and his life of arthritis but I somehow missed all the cardiac issues of the players. I would think too that the medical directors of these sports kids have their health records and are up on them all....

Do you have access to Bronny's health records and medical history? Why is there a need to speculate on this young man's health? He has his whole life in front of him.

Basketball-wise, Hank Gathers and Len Bias were the first two that came to mind when I first heard, although the Bias death was eventually linked to cocaine usage.

(I also thought our sport’s loving Caroline would be right there with the first post of the Bronny story. I was correct in that thinking.)

Reggie Lewis of the Boston Celtics also comes to mind. He was just 27 years old. His death was attributed to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a structural heart defect that is the most common cause of death in young athletes.

Yep Opus you got good correct thinking. I'm not sports loving, I've enjoyed some sports in my life, but LOVE them, nope... I don't love a lot, the sun and a nice breeze and my family are loves, but I have a lot of likes......

And have an open mind to many possibilities just like this one here.

Likely a heart defect. I used to play Basketball and Tennis. If you have any type of heart problem it will come for you. It is HOT at times and you have got to run.

When I was playing Basketball in College, a friend of mine collapsed - heart defect.

He won't be able to play again if that's what happened. It is sad. That was his career - now he has to re-group. Heart stuff a lot of times can't be picked up on routine physicals.

Could change basketball history. LeBron’s plan was to stick around and play in the same NBA game as the kid. If Bronny can’t go no more, LeBron could conceivably call it a career sooner than anticipated.

Apparently a team of heart surgeons agreed he had a heart defect. You think Lebron is going to say that unless it is true? You really need to just deal with the reality of some situations. He had a heart problem. That's IT. Unless you are a doctor who spent your life dealing with heart conditions - I'd defer to the medical team who Lebron has paid a fortune to to diagnose his kid.

And, if you distrust medical professionals that much - next time you get sick, really sick, deal with it yourself.

Bronny James, son of superstar Lebron James, did not show any signs of future problems during a health screening months before his cardiac arrest at basketball practice, according to a new report.

The 18-year-old recently underwent a cardiac screening as part of a program for prospective NBA players, a source told CNN.

The screening included a transthoracic echocardiogram – which looks at blood flow through the heart and heart valves – and an EKG, which is a recording of the heart’s electrical activity, the source said. Both tests came back with normal results, suggesting there were not preexisting problems that could have led to the cardiac arrest, the source said.
