View Full Version : 32$ for Domino's order!!
TheLittleFaerie 07-23-2023, 01:42 AM I ordered from Domino's for the first time in a LONG time... a medium 3 topping pizza, Cheesy bread and 2 liter Coke... and it was 32$ Does that sound too much?
Keep in mind it's been a while, but not long ago it seems like I got that for right at 20$ because I remember giving them 25$ and letting them keep 5$ as a tip when they delivered
JamesG 07-23-2023, 04:23 AM I haven't ordered from Domino's in a long time myself, as a New Yorker I go to real pizzerias, but I went online as if I was placing a Domino's order.
My local one offers 2 Medium Pizzas w/ Toppings, Cheesy Bread, Cinnamon Twists and 2-Liter Drink for $19.99. Your specific order was roughly the same price as what you paid without the combo offer.
biffbronson 07-23-2023, 04:43 AM Here are promos currently offered by Dominos. My family did the 2-or-more deal some time ago with good results; you order 2 of these at $6.99 each and pick up in store. (If their location is nearby, using a little fuel to make a trip there isn't a concern.) You can get four 2-topping pizzas for about $28 plus tax...!
292838
Lots of mixing and matching of toppings with that 2-or-more offer. And leftovers for your fridge.
You can really save by picking up, and of course drinks are much less expensive if you buy them from supermarkets ahead of time. Going for specific options a la carte and having delivery will cost you significantly. And that's how these places profit most.
Caroline13 07-23-2023, 01:37 PM Everything delivered or picked up since early 2020's destructive time in our lives --- prices are all up. could be less in smaller towns but it's Wildy Increased in Prices....
If you can pick up, you'll save some $$$....
Be smarter, don't buy the drinks and extra breads???
ThisLittlePiggy 07-23-2023, 01:51 PM I would just get the pizza. You can buy Coke and bread at the store and save money. A pizza should not be much more than $20.

I live in a pretty small town and I did pick up the order..... but I hadn't ordered from Dominos since before 2020 probably... That's what I always used to get and it seems like it was always around 20$ or so

That was always my favorite order back in the day, so thought I'd get it again, but JEEEZ! I could have sworn I got all that for around 20$. I do go to Pizza Hut quite a lot and I can get the same there for 25$ or so and I used to think Domino's used to be cheaper than Pizza Hut
There's just something about those icey Domino's Coca-Colas that are hard to resist lol

I did a test order on Domino's, and ordered a Medium three topping pizza with beef, salami, pepperoni, a stuffed cheesy bread, and a 2 liter Coke, and the total was a subtotal of $34.71 before tip, so it does seem to be around your neighborhood of of paying $32.
Janice Johnson 07-24-2023, 07:36 AM Next time, just order from Little Caesars. :) I did a test order on Little Caesars and ordered a round pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and seasoned beef, a 2 liter Pepsi, and an Italian cheese bread, and the subtotal was $18.25, the taxes was $3.49, the service fee was $2.19, and the tip was $3. The total came to $26.93, $4.07 less than the $32 you paid for a similar order from Domino's! :) ;)
ThisLittlePiggy 07-24-2023, 12:47 PM I found this article on why the price of pizza has gone up.

The Price of Pizza Has Gone Up. Here's Why
There's more than inflation to blame for the rising price of dough.
Caroline13 07-24-2023, 02:14 PM It's really too bad for the business and the "regular" people, so costly NOW. Just the gas the delivery people put in their cars, prices so high.
I have stopped and the frozen pizzas I keep in the freezer are just fine...The lowest price one I buy is about $6 and Ca Pizza Kitchen one runs $10 or so. Works in my life.
Just thinking probably most of you buy the self rising dough, I do not, I like ultra thin crust, I'm the only that quit eating breads over 10 yrs ago.....the thicker pizzas can go further for more eating later on or tomorrow or or or....

Yeah the $26.93 would have been closer to what I used to pay Dominos lol I always thought Domino's had a reputation for being more reasonable than Pizza Hut, but I can get all that at Pizza Hut for WELL under 30$
ThisLittlePiggy 07-25-2023, 08:58 AM If the pizza is 20 and the bread is 10 and the soda is 2, yep, that's 32.

Hawkee 07-26-2023, 01:50 AM I wouldn't recommend ordering Domino's Pizza because when my mom and I used to eat pizza from them the pizzas used to be good but my mom ordered Domino's Pizza for Super Bowl Sunday and we waited a long long long time for our pizzas and then they finally showed after the Super Bowl was over and the pizzas were not great and the pepperoni was stuck together and not cooked all the way and so my mom had to take the pizzas back and we never ever had Domino's Pizza again. I think why Domino's has raised their prices on their pizza is because I think they are hurting for money and they constantly offer deals just so people can buy their pizzas. Like if you look at Domino's Pizza commercials they seem to always have a new deal. Like they'll give you any topping pizza and then give soda and Cinna-Stix and a dessert of chocolate lava cake and when you get the general picture it really costs too much. But if you want a really good pizza for a good price I highly recommend Piara Pizza and their pizza tastes really terrific and even better than Domino's Pizza and Little Caesars Pizza and you can always get great deals from Piara Pizza too
Caroline13 07-27-2023, 04:11 PM Just about EVERYONE has been raising prices for the last 3 yrs.
ThisLittlePiggy 07-28-2023, 07:56 AM I have a gross little story. It's the reason why I will never order or eat a Domino's pizza ever. One day when I went to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, there was a Domino's pizza box, opened, and inside was dog poop. That's all I can think about when I hear the name Domino's pizza. I don't know if the dog was making a comment or his owner was, but I always felt it was a sign, Don't eat Domino's. And I never have in my whole life. I know that's weird but that's the way it is.

That was your experience, best kept to yourself...
biffbronson 07-29-2023, 11:41 AM I have to question when people let a bad experience like Hawkee had with Dominos lead them to never give the brand a 2nd chance. If there's more than 1 area location, it may be much better than the subpar one. She liked her Little Caesars experience, but I could point to times when their product was way too greasy. It can be hit-or-miss.
Remember too that these are enormous chains and the quality of your experience can really vary. For example there are over 14,000 McDonalds in the U.S. One has to believe that at least some of those are under good management...!

Yong Fang 08-06-2023, 06:31 AM I noticed coming back to America after four years just how utterly and stupidly expensive things are. I liked to walk early in the morning to McDonalds and order a biscuit sandwich, two hash browns and a drink and it was $10! Other simple fast food combinations, a sandwich, fries and drink, over $10. Insane. But it isn’t how expensive the food is, but how devalued the American Dollar is. A $100 bill is the new twenty.
In my opinion, corporate pizza is ass. It’s not good. I will say I have not had Dominoes since college but then it was just Ok, it was good if you were 19 and hungry, and/or drunk or stoned. The mystery to me is Pizza Hut. I have had Pizza Slut, I mean Hut, sorry, since I was a child of the 1970’s at various times and it has never been good. When I was a teenager, I and my mother had some arguments and she made it up to me by bringing home a Pizza Slut…Hut, there I go again!, and after about three slices looked at each other and went “this is a crap pizza.” There are Pizza Huts in China all over. Haven’t eaten one in about two years. The pizza in my opinion is a flavorless, greasy “guy bomb”. I mean if you are high and had enough tobacco you might be able to do something. But it is a mystery of mysteries why this company has spread all over the Planet. You can buy a gut bomb pizza outside the Pyramids in Egypt, in Beijing and even in New York City. Amazing.

I guess different people have different tastes... I love Pizza Hut honestly, it's changed a lot... I loved it when it had a jukebox, video games, pitchers of beer or Pepsi, etc... It is like a staple of my childhood.... Dominos is OK, but it's not what it used to be.
I don't understand the dill pickle craze that everyone seems to be obsessed with lol Nor why everyone seems to be crazy about Mountain Dew soda lol

A place like McDonald's sometimes has deals they don't really advertise well at all. In recent years, at breakfast if you ordered 2 sausage mcmuffins, the 2nd one cost $1. So the total for those: $1.89 + $1 = $2.89, though likely the price is now higher. A couple of added items would still amount to far less than $10. It pays to be "in the know." :) And it helps if the manager will honor the promotions & not be a jackass.
Yong Fang 08-23-2023, 07:08 AM I am being respectful but I have never liked Pizza Hut pizza at all. I am an only child and my parents and I never ate it, and when I did it was just an inferior product. In high school, I and my late mother would have arguments and she tried to “bury the hatchet” by buying a Pizza Hut pizza. After about three slices, my beautiful mother who passed away five years ago actually apologized for bringing that crap pizza in the house, even though it was a peace and love offering.
I live in China and there are Pizza Huts everywhere. The pizza is as bad here as it is in the United States. It is a flavorless grease bomb. What is horrible is that Chinese actually think that this crap is how pizza is to be made and actually had independent Chinese pizza which has followed the same formula. It intrigues me how Pizza Hut is in so many countries by putting out such an awful product.
I am seriously not trolling here. Pizza Hut is horrible. And this comes from an obese American.

I'm always hearing ppl say, "Man Pizza Hut SUCKS!" or "Dominos is HORRIBLE!", etc.. "If you want good pizza go to Davinci's Pizza!" or "Tomatarallino's!! or insert any other Italianish sounding name..... But the fact is I'm in a small town and as far as authentic pizza there aren't any options really. I've always liked Pizza Hut, I liked it better back in the day when going there was a fun family night, with a jukebox and video games, etc.... but the pizza is still pretty good to me

People can't help saying it, because Pizza Hut and Dominos don't sell authentic pizza. I'm from NYC and luckily got to experience what authentic city food used to be like before corporate chains began mass producing it, and I've seen this problem happen to NYC food over and over and over. There'll be an affordable, but delicious street food prepared by mom and pops, particularly immigrants. Corporations mass market it, but completely change the formula to make it easier to make, and pump it full of preservatives so it'll keep longer. Everything about the texture, taste, etc. is changed. People get used to the fake chain store and the original is forgotten.
That's what happened with pizza. Actual pizza is very different from chain store pizza. Everything is made from scratch and baked in an oven not too shortly before you buy a slice. The ingredients, flavor and texture are different. NYC pizza is supposed to be a crispy flatbread dripping with mozzarella, not more bread than cheese, and not "four cheese." Unless you've had it, it's hard to appreciate the difference.
The best analogy I can give is canned bubble tea vs restaurant made. In the restaurant version, the boba is thick, chewy and gummy. The canned version is alright, but the texture for the boba is completely off, like biting into a peeled grape.
Yong Fang 08-25-2023, 12:12 AM Just my opinion but corporate pizza is not good and is grossly overpriced. I have not had Dominos since literally Reagan was President in college, and it was only good because we were hungry college students with no food in the room and pizza was only a phone call away.
For long time readers, you know what my opinion of Pizza Hut is, a flavorless gut bomb of grease. Papa John’s isn’t much better. Corporate pizza is not good.
I came back to America this summer after being abroad for four years and was honestly shocked at how utterly expensive everything is. Like McDonalds where a biscuit sandwich, two hashbrowns and a drink was over $10! Ridiculous. Or buying food at the supermarket felt like buying stuff at Neiman-Marcus with this self checkout crap because the billion dollar supermarket corporation won’t hire cashiers. Where a $100 is the new $20.
But I will say again, corporate pizza sucks. What is worse is that corporations are taking over the restaurant industry. I dare say to look for local chains with better food. The best pizza I ever had was delivery from a bar from a tiny town called North Hampton, Iowa. My city of Memphis has several local excellent pizza places that have been around for decades. The prices will still be as high because the government and billionaires have ripped us off, but you will get a much better product!

Being in a small southern town, we don't have many options. We do have a couple of Greek style/Pizza/Steak Houses, and they have really good pizzas, at least to me

Inflation is no joke. I went to Burger King and ordered a Whopper Jr, fries, and a milkshake, and I paid like $12! For a meal that used to be like $7 at the MOST!

I don't think you're really supposed to correct things like that, as it's kinda considered "clutter". I know where the $ goes, but this is just causal talk, and you know what I meant so.... ANYWAY I just remember in the rules of the forum a long time ago reading "Not to correct typos and things, as long as the message is intelligible, just keep the conversation flowing" I think a misplacement of a $ would count along the same lines as a typo.

Not a typo and I think it's helpful to inform others so they learn correctly. Never to late to learn things.

In that case, it’s “too late”, not “to late”.
