Interesting development, yet there is 0 information. I wonder if it involves one of their own. There have been a couple of officers recently who are under investigation for fraud and other illegal activities.
jets4life 08-05-2023, 06:47 AM I really doubt this case will ever be solved. I've read articles and at least one well-written book about Tupac's murder. IMO, it almost certainly is the result of what happened at the Mike Tyson fight Tupac attended hours before.
Tupac was leaving the arena with Suge Knight, when he spotted 22 year old Orlando Anderson, a Crip gang member wearing a "death Row" medallion around his neck. It is believed that Suge Knight (who was associated with the Bloods), gave a personal friend the medallion. One week before the shooting occurred, the friend was jumped outside a Foot Locker in Los Angeles, and robbed of several items, including the medallion.
Tupac (who was personal friends with Knight), spotted Anderson wearing the stolen medallion, confronted him then started beating Anderson, as Suge Knight and his entourage jumped in helping Tupac beat Anderson. There is surveillance of the incident that was seen Worldwide in 1996.
Afterwards, Police showed up and asked Anderson if he wanted to press charges, which Anderson (being a gang member) refused to do. He then met with some other Crip members at a nearby hotel, and planned revenge. Word got out the Tupac had planned on attending "Club 662" near the Las Vegas strip, and the Crips had planned to ambush him at the location.
However, when they drove in the direction to the club, they spotted Tupac and Suge at a red light flirting with a group of female fans in a vehicle to the left of them. They pulled up to the right, and it is believed Anderson opened fire on Tupac, striking him numerous times. The Crip members then drove onto the I-15 freeway immediately after the shooting, in the direction of Los Angeles.
While in hospital, Crip members in the area were believed to be responsible for death threats to Shakur, believing he would survive the shooting, planning on finishing the job at the Hospital. Security was beefed up. Unfortunately, six days later, Shakur passed away.
This immediately sparked a intense gang war between the Crips and Bloods in areas of LA, such as Watts, South Central LA, and most noticeably Compton. Dozens of people were killed before the year ended as a result. Anderson, fearful of his life, testified in Suge Knight's defense, since Knight had violated his parole by kicking Anderson while he was down (Knight would later be sentenced to 9 years in prison for this), as Anderson would have certainly been targeted for death, if he had not helped Knight out.
Before the Police could charge Anderson with Tupac's murder, he was killed in a shootout in Los Angeles in the spring of 1998. However, his accomplices were never charged, as people were too fearful of speaking to Police. It's been 27 years, and it's widely believed that many of the witnesses and the perpetrators to this crime have passed away, many being murdered themselves.

Depends on your definition of solved.
Someone being brought to justice over this? Zero chance.
Being reasonably sure of who murdered him? I think it's likely. Just.. Whoever it was is likely long dead themselves at this point.

good post, and this makes a lot of sense. it's circumstantial, but the fight at the MGM would most likely be a good starting point to investigate a motive. I don't know that it holds any weight, but I do not overlook the idea that Suge could have been involved or at the least instigated the crime. he was a weird guy and surely his relationship with Tupac was never going to last and he had to know that. he seemed to be a very vindictive person. and beyond just that I think Tupac was volatile and knew his days could be numbered. Very sad that his murder was never solved, when it seems like it could have been.

That was a very well written and concise post. I felt like I was reading the final resolution of this case.
One question: The shootout Anderson died in... was it with other gang members, the police or was he ambushed?

Anderson died at a car wash in Compton. Him and a friend had spotted two rival gang members, and confronted them over a drug related beef. Reports suggest Anderson was the aggressor, shooting both the rivals, while he and his friend were shot in return fire. Three of the four involved, including Anderson, were killed.

Suge Knight was pretty much cleared of any involvement in Tupac's murder. There are some conspiracy theories that Suge was involved, but there is no evidence to support this.
For starters, Tupac's murder was not a professional hit. If Knight wanted Tupac dead, a professional hitman would have been hired for this. Another thing is the shooting was a crime of opportunity. Anderson opened fire, aiming around a dozen bullets at Tupac. Knight himself was nearly shot as a bullet grazed his head, and he required medical attention for this. There is no way that Knight would have placed himself inside a vehicle that was the target of a drive-by shooting.
It would make zero sense to hire someone to kill Tupac, who was the #1 Rap artist in the World at the time, and had made Death Row records millions of dollars for Knight. There is a lot of evidence that Suge Knight was responsible for Biggie Smalls murder in Los Angeles six months later, as that murder was definitely a professional hit. However, it's highly unlikely Knight had any involvement in Tupac's death.
As well as being Executive Producer and owner of Death Row Records, Suge Knight was a gang member for the Bloods, but arranging a killing on one of his artists was not his M.O. Aside from that both Dr.Dre in late 1995, and Snoop Dogg in 1997 had left Death Row, after becoming disillusioned with the level of violence they experienced while being under contract with Death Row (beatings of record producers and staff were common). Dre and Snoop left on bad terms with Knight, but at no point did he try to have them killed. Later on, it has been revealed that Suge Knight and his entourage attempted to intimidate Enimem and 50 Cent, into signing contracts with Death Row records, however, both men stood their ground and nothing became of it.

Perhaps I'm just confusing the two.. Which is decently easy to do, considering they happened so close together.. But I though there was a theory floating around that Tupac was planning on leaving Death Row and that there was some serious money involved in that. Like he was going to try to get some money from Suge that was owed him?
Again.. I could be just confusing the Tupac and Biggie murders and sort of merging them in my mind.
Wasn't Suge the driver of the car Tupac was in? You would have to consider it.. fortunate that he wasn't hit.

I don't think there's any evidence that suge conspired to kill Tupac. I think Suge saw that Tupac was outgrowing death row records and I think he acted carelessly which in turn accelerated Tupac's murder. Suge was reckless and is lucky he wasn't killed in that shooting, but I will say that the fact that Tupac was shot several times is telling that Tupac was indeed the target, not Suge.

The only thing that suggests this, is that it's rumoured two weeks before his death, Tupac Shakur had fired his lawyer David Kenner, due to financial irregularities. Kenner was the main lawyer for Knight and other rap artists at Death Row records. When Knight had posted $1,000,000 bail, pending an appeal to Tupac's 1994 conviction, he in return agreed to record 3 albums for Death Row. The first being "All Eyez on Me" which was a double album. The other, "Makaveil: The 7th Day Theory," was released a month after Shakur was shot to death.
However, there is no concrete evidence that Shakur was going to leave Death Row records. He was immersed in the East Coast-West Coast feud at the time of his death, and was bitter rivals with one time friend, the Notorious B.I.G., and was dissing him and other East coast rappers, until the date of his death.

Tupac was definitely the intended target. If the Crip members wanted to kill Suge Knight, who was 6'3/280 pounds, he would ahve been a much easier target to hit, considering Tupac was pretty small at 5'7/150.

Correct no concrete evidence. That’s a good way to sum up this whole deal.
I think it’s sort of common sense that if Tupac wasn’t killed he would have left death row records. Whether it would have been due to his own reckless behavior or whether he got too big for it.

I have no doubt that if Tupac would not have been killed in Las Vegas, he would have likely met his demise soon after. He was making far too many enemies, and dissing a lot of powerful people.
In 1993, he had befriended a powerful drug dealer, and gang leader by the name of "Haitian Jack" from Queens, NY. He hung out with Jack and some of his posse members for several months until the incident with the women that accused him and two of Jack's bodyguards of sexual assault. What is not known to people who did not follow the case, is the Tupac had met the women at a nightclub a couple of days earlier.
The woman was on the dance floor, came over to Tupac, granded against him, then reached inside his pants, and fondled him. She led him to a corner of the club, which was not well lit, and performed fellatio on him at the club. She then went to Tupac's hotel room a couple of days later, where the men allegedly committed a sexual assault against her.
Here is where Tupac's problems begin. The two men in question cut deals with the prosecution, and pointed to Tupac. Tupac, who had run ins with the law, and admitted to certain things that usually landed him on probation or a few days in jail, was adamant that he was innocent of this crime. In fact, if you look back at Tupac's body language, and the fact that they woman had come on to him at a club, and performed a sex act on him, I tend to believe Tupac may have been the fall guy in the case.
This is what ended his relationship with Haitian Jack. The trouble with Tupac, is he was really brazen to the point of going on hip hop radio, and calling out Jack for not coming to his defense during the incident, or vouching for him. This is just something people who have any kind of self-preservation do not do. It's like a Hell's Angels clubhouse associate telling media about negative things that the HA does. It will lead to a beating, and even death.
In November 94, it is widely believed Tupac was shot in the main lobby of the building that Sean "Puffy" Combs and Biggie Smalls were recording songs on one of the upper floors. Rumor has it Haitian Jack had ordered his henchmen to rob Tupac at gunpoint in retaliation for him dissing Jack in the media. The myth is that Combs and Biggie had set up Tupac was widely discredited to an inmate that made up the story in early 1995, looking for money from the media.
After Tupac signed with Death Row, and became inseparable with Suge Knight, he would often write diss tracks aimed at rival hip hop artists, especially Notorious BIG and Sean "Puffy" Combs. It got to the point that Tupac was stating in interviews and in his lyrics, that he had sex with Biggie's wife, Faith Evans, who collaborated with him in the past on his records.
Whatever the case, Tupac had a very bad track record of making enemies, and having fallouts with one-time friends. I have no doubt that eventually, he would have turned on Suge Knight, considering that it is believed Knight was embezzling most of Tupac's earnings.
Regardless, Tupac was almost certainly killed as a result of the incident at the Mike Tyson fight. Unfortunately due to the passing of time, there is little chance that either Tupac or Biggie will ever see justice served as a result of their respective murders.

That.. SOUNDS like what i heard.. And, I agree.. I wasn't putting this out there as that is what happened. Just that it was a theory that I heard which.. I mean, you can't pooh-pooh it entirely, because.. Would you put it past Suge Knight? I wouldn't.
I mean, I don't give it a WHOLE lot of credence, but.. a small part of me saying "It's possible"? Yeah..

There is zero chance Suge Knight had anything to do with Tupac's death. He had no dealings with the assailants in the vehicle that opened fire on them, other than the fact that they were with the Crips, the main enemy of the Bloods, which Knight was a member of, which further disproves Knight has anything to do with the murder.
There will always be conspiracy theories about this, but they are mainly amplified by people tht do not know the facts surrounding the case.

No dealings with the assailants.. That we know of.. Considering we don't know who they are.. This doesn't hold up to me.
Bloods and Crips.. Yes.. That stretches credibility because.. I can't really think of any time they've worked together on anything. So, even the old saying of "The enemy of my enemy.." Doesn't really pass the smell test here.
Of course.. Let's just say it DID happen that way.. It'd kinda be the perfect crime, wouldn't it? Partner with someone who no one would think you'd partner with. If either side was caught.. The other side would never be suspected as being involved.
Do I think that really happened? No. I can't imagine. But.. if you close your mind to anything being a possibility at all.. That's where you get burned. So, I leave the door open.. But just a little crack.
Someone said a while back something like did I eliminate Mr Rogers as JFK's assassin.. Well, if he wasn't in Dallas, then yes. Otherwise.. Nothing would make me look at him unless some evidence popped up tying him to it, but.. If you can't disprove it, you can't discount it. Now.. I discount Fred not because I know he wasn't in Dallas.. But because we know who did it.

Suge committed violent crimes and used intimidation on people, even his own partners. at least that is the story that has been told and there is evidence that suggests he is an extremely violent person.
anyway there is no evidence to show that suge conspired to kill Tupac and that theory doesn't even make sense unless there are details that are still yet unknown. This looks straight forward that a brawl occurred in the MGM and then one of the victims of the brawl sought out revenge shortly after. the only thing that I question about this case is whether Tupac was the sole target or were both Tupac and Suge targets given that Suge only received a minor injury.
