If it were in color? People are still complaining about black and white. I have no problem with it though, I don't think a lot of shows would be the same in color. Leave It To Beaver would be a totally different show if it were in color. I saw some still pictures of the cast in color and it was like my eyes were playing tricks on me. What do you guys think? Would you have liked to see Beaver in Color? I know I sure wouldn't.

I would probally still like it in color, but it's good in black and white so there would be no reason to have it in color.

Since color is stimulation, and most shows until the mid-60's were not in color, the shows which remain popular from the b&w era today obviously have a different kind of stimulation, especially considering how limited television was as far as subject matter. So in LITB, character development, the backdrop of the Cleaver home(s), all the rooms which say something about the family, then the simplicity of life, that honesty and integrity always win out... these qualities stimulate us in favor of what we see in this show, and perhaps we are more effected by focusing on these things, as our stimulation is not intercepted by visual elaborations of color.

I can still think of at least one ep I wish was in color-- "Wally's New Suit." Really that first suit Wally picked out does not look so bad in b&w. But is it orange? bright yellow? what colors?

I enjoy watching old shows and movies in B&W. It gives an "old feeling" to the shows that you don't get in color. I enjoy the B&W Andy Griffith shows more than the ones they filmed in color. I remember about 10-15 years ago there was a big push to "colorize" all the old movies. I saw some of them after they were colorized and I liked them better in B&W. But I do have to agree with the desire to see Wally's suit in living color, I have a feeling we would have had the same shocked look as Ward and June if we could have seen the true color.

Yeah, you're right, Wally's New Suit would be hilarious in color.

Ditto to the b & w Andy episodes.

I think Beaver was meant to be in black and white. When a show goes to color, it loses the "It" value to me. I'll take Andy for example. It just lost it when Don left and it went to color. Beaver is just like the Twilight Zone- it was meant to be black and white. Both shows would've lost a lot of charm if it went to color.

It would be a true crime to colorize the black and white episodes. Colorizing it just looks so odd to me. Hallmark has touched up the old black and white Bewitched episodes, and it just looks weird. Gilligan's Island on one channel was touched up and everybody's teeth look so grey.

First off, some show really are better in b&w. There's just no disputing that. I think of a show like the Fugitive, which looked so much better the first three years than the last one, which went to color. I also thought shows like Lost in Space and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea looked better in b&w.

Secondly, colorizing is a horrid practice that should be outlawed! I hate watching shows like Gilligan or Bewitched when they are colorized.

i dont think the LITB would look right in color, i have no problem with black and white. i think i love lucy would not look right in color either.

I prefer LITB in B&W because thats how I'm used to it. If they colorized it I wouldn't like it. I agree with UncleBilly when he says B&W brings an old feeling to the show. I hate when they colorize movies such as It's a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street because to me it looks so fake and that's not how the movie was originally intended to be seen. I would hate to see the Twilight Zone or The Munsters in color because it would bring a totally different feel to the show.
