If they had the proper build-up, sure. But it just came out of nowhere in the last season. I never really bought Betty and Veronica as super close friends on Riverdale (I'd buy it in the comics because they really are close enough there), so I am very "meh" on them upgrading into a romance.

A better done (albeit rushed) version was actually Harper/Stephanie on the recently cancelled Gotham Knights. Two "rival" girls start off on the wrong foot, grow closer, get together.
