Also, do you believe that the PG Disney is the reason that ABC is struggling to keep up in the R-rated TV world ?

View Full Version : If ABC continues to suck over the next few years, do you think Disney will sell it ? The Gooch 08-30-2002, 02:39 PM Also, do you believe that the PG Disney is the reason that ABC is struggling to keep up in the R-rated TV world ? Sitcomwriter 08-30-2002, 02:43 PM Well ABC now has a deal with HBO so I dunno.... Brian Damage 08-30-2002, 03:08 PM I definitely think Disney would dump ABC if it continued to struggle. Disney, like any other big corporation, is all about the bottom line. If ABC continues to lose money, you can bet Disney will dump it like a hot potatoe. I don't think ABC is struggling because it's too "PG." If ABC had enough quality programming, it would compete. Pavan 08-30-2002, 04:18 PM ABC is much better this season. 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter is the best sitcom overall this season. That Was Then looks promising. My Wife & Kids is very strong, it is dominiating the 8pm hour this summer on Wednesdays. According to Jim will get higher ratings as it is after 8 Simple Rules. Life with Bonnie might do well. Push, Nevada could drag more viewers away from CSI, I'm sure CSI will win the 9om hour, but Push might get second or third. Overall, ABC is MUCH better this season. Their promotion is by far #1. TVJunkie101 08-30-2002, 10:28 PM I agree with Pavanbadal. ABC is/has been doing a great job on their fall schedule. It looks much more promising than last year. They knew they've screwed up, so they're doing a good job of fixing their mistakes. I think the "happy hour" theme will get a bit annoying, I mean, hearing "ABC's Happy Hour" day after day, will get a bit annoying, but overall, ABC is very promising this fall. I am very hopefull 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter will do good, and I'm sure it will, because with John Ritter and Katey Sagal, what can go wrong? (Well, Heart's Afire lasted only three seasons with John and Markie Post, so who knows...) Anyway, again, overall, ABC looks very good this year, all the networks do (don't even get me started on UPN, ugh, lol) and I have a good feeling the networks will do very well, they all have had great promtion for their shows, and no doubt will be pulling in viewers. I think WB may not do as well with their comedies, but we'll see. dlemond 08-31-2002, 12:22 AM Disney would never dump ABC. That's like selling the Yankees in the 80's because they stunk. Gee, whatever happened to them? People will get fired if things continue to go bad. And that teenage daughter show? I assume they will make her 13 to up their expectations that the show can last for 7 years. |
