Okay, here are the trivia answers:

1) I saw this in the episode where Charles is selling the pizza for the Pembroke's grandmother. He walks into the Lamp Light and on the wall is a pennant that clearly says: Copeland Huskies.

2) This is a yes and a no answer. I think it is fairly safe to say that in the TV series, Charles in NOT adopted. We have his very own mother to verify that fact in the years of the Powell shows. However, in the 1984 novel, it says that Charles IS adopted.

3) I'm not sure if they mention it in the TV series, but in the novel, it clearly says that Charles hails from the state of Pennsylvania.

For some reason, the novel presents contradictory evidence on a few things. The adoption thing is one example, but there are a few more. One major one is that the novel says the college is called Crawford College, not Copeland like in the series.

Also, does the series ever say exactly how Charles got his job there? The first show already shows him working with the kids for a short while. The novel actually starts right when Charles gets to college and he bumps into Buddy while registering for class. Charles needs to get a job because he doesn't want to ask his parents for anymore money. He sees a file card pinned up on the board in the student union for the job which the Pembrokes had placed there. He interviews and gets the job immediately.

Thomas....there were two books written on the series, both paperback. One on the 84 and one on the syndicated version. I have not read them so I cant say what they are about in content..show plots, backstage stuff, ect but I would love to see them. I can look up the titles and post them or maybe somebody who has the read the books can if you want to.

The books, as brendon said, are two novels primarily written for a younger audience (teens maybe?).

The first novel is called "Charles in Charge" and it chronicles the major events that take place during the pilot episode with the Pembrokes. Of course, a lot else takes place because they have to pad the book out a lot.

The second novel, called "Charles in Charge Again", was published in 1987 and it takes place at the start of the syndicated show. It is based upon the first episode called "Amityville."

These are the books I am currently reading to gain further insight into the characters.

Hope this helps!!
