I was wondering if someone could help me find a particular song. I was listening to the LiveOne music streaming service a little bit ago and a Simply Red song came on. I liked it, but unfortunately I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics and I didn't bother to look at the song title. All that I really have to go on is that it was a piano ballad and it was probably around four or five minutes long. Any ideas what song this could be?

Here’s 25 of them. If you click the song title it’ll give you the lyrics, but according to you that may not help. For the music you’ll have to punch in the titles at YouTube or a music service.

Good luck.

Hey, did you ever find it, or a few hours later it was unimportant and now you no longer care?

Hey! Yeah, I still care. I haven't gotten around to it yet. The more that I thought about it, the more that I thought that the song in question probably wasn't a hit, so I kind of doubt that it's in that link that you provided. What's weird is that I remember that LiveOne showed the cover for their debut album, "Picture Book" when this particular song was playing, but later on when I went through that entire album I couldn't find it on there anywhere. What I plan on doing really soon is playing snippets from their entire catalog until I find it. Plus, I'm going to ask my brother-in-law about it when I see him in a couple of weeks, although I doubt that he'll be any help.

I'll keep you posted.

The song you might be referring to may be Holding Back The Years because that song was the first American hit for Simply Red while the UK hit was Money's Too Tight To Mention and I think there were two versions of Holding Back The Years and the song you heard might be the second version
Hope this helps you out a little

I was listening to the LiveOne music streaming service

On a related note in here, what is that? I don’t know that one. If I need a song I usually go to Spotify (free version) or YouTube. Is that one free? Is there a lot to choose from?

I use Spotify sometimes. LiveOne is a little different from Spotify. The way that it operates is that users are allowed to type in artists and then LiveOne will play random songs by that artist and other artists that they feel are similar. The more obscure the artist, the more offbase that they are with their "similar artists." With mainstream artists such as Simply Red they're usually pretty spot on with their similar artists selections. I started using the service many years ago after a co-worker suggested it. Back then it was known as Slacker Radio. LiveOne acquired it back in 2017. Yes, it's free.

I downloaded the app but ended up deleting it. I usually want to go straight for a specific song, and if it’s possible here, I was struggling. I’ll stick with Spotify. Seemingly every song ever, and even decent if I want to randomly play around with lists of something I don’t know, all for the price of sitting through 30-60 seconds of ads now and then, which I mute anyways.

It's possible. All you have to do is go to the icon that looks like a magnifying glass in the upper right corner, click on that and then type in the artist and song. LiveOne isn't perfect and it isn't for everyone. I use it because every once in a great while I discover a new to me song that I like on there.

I did a very extensive search on iTunes and I only found two songs that came even remotely close to being prospects, but I really don't think that either one is the song that I had in mind. "Everytime We Say Goodbye" (which is apparently a Cole Porter cover) would be the most likely of the two. Musically it's a beautiful song, but I dislike the lyrics enough that I don't really need to hear it again. "Someday In My Life" is the other one. Again, I doubt that either song is what I was looking for. There are three Simply Red albums that iTunes doesn't have, so it's possible that the song that I'm looking for is on one of those albums, but since iTunes doesn't have them it would mean that I would have to buy the whole album to legally acquire the song and I'm not interested in doing that and I'm not interested in bootlegging it either.
