We got the internet for the first time back in 1996.... I remember the internet being a VERY different place in those days... I just wonder what would have happened back then if you typed into the search engine "Infoseek" or "Altavista" or something, terms like "Facebook", "Youtube", or "Twitter", etc.... do you think ANYTHING at all would match? Would these sites even have been a thought at that time?

I remember 1996 the very first time I was online. I was at a friend’s house who had it, he went bed but allowed me to stay in the house and I discovered it and fell absolutely in love. I remember that night even more than the first time I had sex. To be able to look up anything at anytime. It was absolutely amazing.
I do mourn that the internet didn’t happen in the 1970’s or early 1980’s. My life could have changed for the better.
I do remember that AOL was a thing. They would send discs would gave like a hundred “free” hours” of service. I also remember when it was dial up, I could get online but it stopped the phone line. My friend/landlord to whom I rented a room would get pissed off that I blocked the telephone access due to my obsession.
I do remember being on these message boards where people from all over the World would send messages and whatever. I was single and sort of looking for hookups or just someone to “talk dirty” to. Or something. The 1990’s like now wasn’t my time. This was so long ago I don’t know what I read or saw. I just enjoyed researching everything.
But like I said I wish the technology existed like it almost is not back on the 1980’s. I could have done a lot of research and looked into what I might want to do with my life. But sometimes I feel it was good it wasn’t around when I was in high school because people were cruel and vicious.

My initial dip into the Net was in 2005, much later than probably many of you. I feel fine about being able to connect with many. There is stuff that could bug me, but I don't let it.
