Emert's case is one of UM's finest in terms of a good whodunit. I know they ended up linking DNA from an ex police officer when ended up passing days before they finally found him. The case always reminded me of the Jack Brown case because he was a realtor as well.

It seems the ex officer was a thief and specialized in home invasions (he was on the run when he died). I never understood what the possible murder of Emert could be about. Very interested in the motive there.

Jack's case was similar in that there was never a true motive. Jack being on the phone and uttering "we have troubled here" always gave me chills.

Were this men killed because of what/who they knew or were they random acts of violence?

It seemed in Emert's case everything was plotted and planned.

I think Jack Brown was murdered either to send a message to one of his sons (who was allegedly involved in drugs and the person he was talking to on the phone before he was killed) or a mistaken hit intended for his son.
