Either one you still actively use, or don't really use but know it still works.

(While we're here, did anyone NEVER have one?)

No, I wish I did! I see some movies listed on Ebay that are on VHS and not on DVD that I would like to have! ;)

I do. I think I have 2 left. I used to have 5 or 6. One of the ones that I still have is a special unit that can play both NTSC and PAL. PAL is the European standard. I also have a similar all region DVD player.

I used to have a VCR two TVs ago with my first one. Since that TV died I haven't. My uncle's family has a VCR that still works.

Does any company still manufacture VCR's (you would think there would be at least enough of a market to make it worth some company's time).

I have a Panasonic VCR from 1998 that still works (VHS) and a Betamax which weighs a ton, that still plays old tapes.

We still have a DVD player/VCR combo.

Yes, it's part of a TV/ VCR Combo that about 5- 10 years ago a TV repair repair guy found however the TV has wires in the front where you would put the DVD player because he couldn't get the remote. Otherwise TV works fine. Just curious though, where can you find blank tapes?

I have a DVD/VHS combo. that's about 18 years old and an RCA one that I have stored away as a back-up.

I also have an older small screen TV that has a VCR built-in, but I use it mainly to play older video games on.

Just curious though, where can you find blank tapes?

You can find them on Amazon and Ebay. Also, you can find some if you're lucky at secondhand stores like Salvation Army and Goodwill.

My last one died. I have had some of my tapes transferred to dvd.
I have had a couple of dvd vcr combo's but each only lasted about a year so I gave up. I have replaced all of my favorite vhs movies with dvd's.

I still have a VCR and a bunch of tapes I never got around to watching. Gave up on tapes when I got my Blu Ray player although the Tapes do look nice sitting in the bookshelf.

Sometimes I wish I did have my VCR for I have tapes I made of my family. I rented a camcorder and have videos. I did put on my computer my 8mm tapes this past spring but I would like a VCR to do the same. Once they were on computer I could ditch the VCR. It would one more gadget that would sit. I do Love my DVR I rent from Comcast.

I have one and use it probably once a month. I also have two back-up ones. All are Panasonic VCRs.

I have a small tv with a built-in VCR, the only VHS tapes I have are the Nightmare on Elm Street series an a VHS of the Absent Minded Professor from 1961

The Nightmare series is my favorite horror series so I wanted to also have that on VHS because there are thing on the VHS that didn't make it to DVD, and I wanted to get Absent Minded Professor on DVD, but accidently ordered it on VHS, but I decided to keep it because it's in color, I don't think it was ever colorized for DVD

When I was home, my father had a small TV/VCR combination. I have never really seen it before and why did he have it since he already had a flat screen in his bedroom. He has a few stray tapes, one was on aviation in the First and Second World War.

I have a ton of DVDs and some Blue Rays and a small Blue Ray player, I watch those a lot, I prefer that to streaming, If I had as many VHSes as I have DVDs, they'd probably take of the whole room

Same with me, I still use VCR's and have two Panasonic VCR's in storage in the event I need them. One is model number 4611 and the other is model number 4612.

I also use DVD and have a DVD collection of favorite old TV shows. I'm fine with DVD and have no plans to invest in blu-ray.

I'm not into streaming either and don't do the streaming stuff.

I have my autographed media (VHS, DVD, Blu-rays) on display. You can't do that with streaming.

Does any company still manufacture VCR's (you would think there would be at least enough of a market to make it worth some company's time).

Well, from an article 2 years ago

>>>The last VCR was manufactured in 2016 by Funai Electric, the last remaining VHS player manufacturer after all the other major tech companies had stopped making them. They announced they were ceasing production that year due to poor sales, and there have been no new VCRs on the market since.<<<

(I suppose someone could have stepped up in the ensuing 2 years, but it seems unlikely)

Yes, 2. Both still work. One I have set up in the basement along with my still working laser disc player.

I have 4-5 working VCRs. I even have a worldwide one which plays PAL tapes. It cost like $400 at the time.

Unless you don't have any VHS tapes, I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't own at least one. I probably have 1,500 tapes which I recorded or bought. I recorded everything for a reason. I just can't toss them. I haven't transferred anything over yet.

Yes. There's a VCR/DVD that's attached to my basement TV. The VCR part quit working a few years ago.

(suggestion: do not buy another VCR/DVD player combination (or DVD player/VCR combination); only buy an uncombined VCR or DVD player)

Yes, I have 2 or 3. (For backup purposes.)

I have a few hundred VHS tapes and they still play okay.

I don't plan to transfer any of them. Not really necessary and would probably cost quite a bit.

I still own a RCA VCR/DVD Recorder that my Dad bought from PC Richards and Sons from 2005. I still use it but only for dubbing purposes. The VHS still works but the DVD part DOES NOT.

Funny how the part of the machine that relies on older outdated tech works but the one that relies on more modern technology doesn’t.

Also, when the DVD recorder worked and when I recorded something, the machine would automatically put the name of the show on the DVD menu without my involvement. No joke. Although it did make mistakes like if it caught the last one minute of the prior show it would put the name of that show on the DVD menu.

25 years ago is a long time for me to remember back to, but I just vaguely recall not being interested in taping TV shows any longer. Maybe I was starting to do more things online.

To me all t his stuff are gadgets, tv is not, radio is not but other stuff I can very nicely live without are gadgets,,,,a vcr was the last gadget I bought at Target, pretty cheap, and it's a box that collects dust.....boy the stuff that we fall for. I fell for NONE of the today's gadgets, and proud of it.
