A few links between the four Yankee perfect games

Don Larsen 1956 World Series Game 5 vs. Dodgers

David Wells 1998 vs the Twins Wells attended the same high school as Don Larson

David Cone 1999 vs the Expos Don Larson threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game (and Yogi caught it same as 1956)

Domingo German vs Athletics the only thing I could find connecting German to Larson was birth month both were born in August, Don in 1929 and German 1992 (29/92 guess that's something)

All had first names starting with D. In 1956, 1998, 1999 the Yankees went on to become the World Champions (we'll see what happens in 2023)

One more potential link between Larson and German, the Dodgers were in their next to last season in Brooklyn, and it appears the Athletics are in their next to last season in Oakland.

Another baseball connection was Dallas Braden, who threw one of those 24 perfect games, in 2010 in the same ballpark, is an announcer over in the A’s broadcast booth.

New York Yankees pitcher Domingo Germán, who was on top of the baseball world after throwing a perfect game in June, has voluntarily agreed to enter inpatient treatment for alcohol abuse and was placed on the MLB’s restricted list, the team announced Wednesday.

Germán has dealt with alcohol abuse in the past and said a “more recent situation emerged” Tuesday, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said.

Cashman did not provide details about the situation but called it a “serious issue.”

“Hopefully the steps that are being taken today will benefit him for the remaining part of his life. … I’m just worried right now for the person and for the immediate family,” Cashman told reporters before the team’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.

Germán is not expected to pitch again this season, Cashman added.

Yankees pitcher Domingo German “grew belligerent” in the clubhouse Tuesday and got into confrontations with members of the Yankees — even flipping over a couch and smashing a TV — before seeking treatment for alcohol abuse, according to reports.

German, who was placed on the restricted list Wednesday by the Yankees after voluntarily submitting to inpatient treatment, “grew belligerent while in the clubhouse at Yankee Stadium,” according to SNY.

The Wall Street Journal reported that German, who appeared to be intoxicated, had “confrontations” with Yankees teammates and manager Aaron Boone.

During the incident, the pitcher flipped over a couch and smashed a TV and was then held in a sauna as the team tried to get him to sweat out the alcohol, according to the Journal.

He was then placed in a team nap room as Yankees security watched over him, but it’s uncertain when he left Yankee Stadium.
