Hello everyone! As I watch the reruns of Cheers, I can't help but notice how much in love Rebecca was with Sam! Am I the only one who sees this? Now, keep in mind, when this show began and ended its regular run, I was ages 4 - 15, so I didn't really pay that much attention to what was going on ( heck, I didn't understand what was going on), but I think they would have been a great couple. Also, can someone here tell me how the last show ended, because I can't remember. Did they have the baby? Did they get together? All can remember about the last episode, was Sam telling someone at the door "we're close" and went into the office. Thanks!

Rebecca and Sam were not in love. They felt that they were better off as friends. They did not have a baby together and Rebecca wound up marrying a plumber named Don.
The finale episode ended with the entire cast sitting around drinking beers and smoking cigars talking about true love. Sam realized in the end his one true love was Cheers.

I agree. I am very happy that the Charles brothers didn't write Sam and Rebecca as a couple. I think that it would have been too similar to the Sam and Diane relationship. We had him fall deeply in love with someone in the bar already, so it was time for something new. I think that Sam and Rebecca were too similar, they reminded me more of a brother/sister relationship. As it is often said on Cheers specials, Rebecca was the female version of Sam. I like the way the writers created their relationship.
