View Full Version : Grrr! Ryan Seacrest is Officially Replacing Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune
icecream 06-27-2023, 01:22 PM Unlike Jeopardy! which went through a long phase of guest hosts auditioning after Alex Trebek died, Ryan Seacrest has been picked without anyone else even being considered.

Zoneboy 06-27-2023, 01:32 PM Missed it by about 10 minutes.
I can't stand Ryan Seacrest so no more 'Wheel' in this house.
At least Whoopi Goldberg didn't get it.
icecream 06-27-2023, 02:29 PM I found the email address of Sony's CEO to contact, just sent him feedback. Kenichiro.Yoshida@jp.sony.com is his email. It is a valid address, first one I turned up for contacting Sony Google had an invalid one. Don't use spe.privacy@spe.sony.com, that one got kicked back. In the email I asked him to reconsider, saying I and many others can't stand Ryan Seacrest and suggested several other names. If Sony gets overwhelming negative feedback on Ryan, maybe they will table this move and look into other options.
Now they just need to get Leslie Jones to turn the letters.

Pat Sajak joked about Ryan Seacrest replacing him (https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/pat-sajak-predicted-ryan-seacrest-230140733.html)
Is Vanna White Retiring When Ryan Seacrest Hosts? (https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/wheel-of-fortune-vanna-white-retiring-ryan-seacrest-hosts.html/)
Hawkee 06-28-2023, 01:24 AM Oh My Goodness,
Out of all the people they were thinking of to replace Pat Sajak with on Wheel Of Fortune why did they choose Ryan Seacrest to replace Pat Sajak on Wheel Of Fortune? This will hurt the show's ratings and Wheel Of Fortune will get cancelled. They could've gone with Mark L. Walberg or even Alfonso Ribeiro would've done a better job as host because to host Wheel Of Fortune the host has to be fun and Wheel Of Fortune is a fun game show. I think what will happen in a few years Wheel Of Fortune will do what Who Wants To Be A Millionaire did when Meredith Veira stepped down as host and replaced her with Cedric The Entertainer and then once Cedric quit Terry Crews replaced Cedric and then Chris Harrison replaced Terry Crews as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire's host til it's final season in syndication and the main reason why Millionaire got cancelled was because of low ratings. And this is what Wheel Of Fortune will become when Ryan Seacrest makes his debut in Fall 2024. Because when Pat Sajak replaced Chuck Woolery as host of Wheel Of Fortune and Vanna White replaced Susan Strafford it was a perfect pair and Pat made the game so fun to play along with and watch. But when Ryan Seacrest will debut in 2024 I can predict Wheel Of Fortune's ratings WILL get low and the show will see it's demise

It was announced today that Ryan Seacrest will be taking over for Pat Sajak come September of 2024. Here are my thoughts on the matter and why it was the best choice to make.
Coffeecup 07-01-2023, 08:03 PM As for Ryan, He seems to go all over the place. Hosts New Years EVE celebrations, has a podcast. was on or is he still involved with American Idol, hosted the morning show with Kelly Ripa + probably is involved with a few other jobs I'm not aware of. and now to Host Wheel of fortune. I rarely watch WOF so the announcement doesn't faze me.
stevea 07-01-2023, 10:09 PM I heard Vanna is demanding a raise, a big one, or she's gone.
Maybe they'll mechanize the board somehow, or have a stagehand change the letters from the back.
Edward216 07-03-2023, 01:40 AM I'm looking forward to Ryan Seacrest taking over as host of Wheel Of Fortune. I think he'll do great at it. If you don't like him, that's your problem.
Ed.
Yong Fang 07-05-2023, 11:09 AM I haven’t watched it since the 1980’s so it doesn’t matter to me. I think it’s incredible that Pat Sajak was on that show for over forty years. Kids in high school when he started are grandparents now. There are middle aged people who have literally grown up with this program.
I don’t know Ryan Seacrest except he is a pretty man. Why not? I have read that Vanna is still staying. She should go when Sajak goes, they are a duo like Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon. Just my opinion. She isn’t needed anymore anyway since the board doesn’t need to turn letters (I haven’t watched the show in literal years, what does she do, touch the lights so it seems she is doing something?)
I remember back in the day of Chuck Woolery and when someone won a game the contestant had to buy prizes with their winnings. Fortunately the show got rid of that.
Ryan Seacrest Hosting Wheel of Fortune Makes Perfect Sense - Here's Why (https://www.cbr.com/ryan-seacrest-wheel-of-fortune-host-choice/)
Ryan Seacrest is a smart and safe choice to replace Pat Sajak as Wheel of Fortune host, even if his hiring has proven unpopular with some viewers.
I heard Vanna is demanding a raise, a big one, or she's gone.

Vanna White is key to Wheel of Fortune's success, but Sony TV doesn't seem to realize her value as a cultural icon. (https://variety.com/2023/tv/columns/vanna-white-wheel-of-fortune-1235665177/#!)
By Daniel D'Addario
In my earliest years, the evening didn’t end until Vanna White said good night.
I was in one of the parts of America where “Wheel of Fortune” comes on after “Jeopardy!” (the only proper order — a roughage-filled meal, then dessert). And I’d insist on staying up past the last ad break to hear the chat between White and “Wheel” host Pat Sajak for 45 seconds or so, wrapping on a sincere-sounding sendoff that gave me the all-clear to trundle up the stairs.
Why did I have to wait for the last moments with Vanna? Well, part of it was a child’s literalism: she hadn’t said good night, so it wasn’t yet that time. But part, too, was an attempt to wring out every last moment of White’s particular charm from “Wheel’s” half-hour. White — perhaps even more than Sajak, a consummate emcee of the old school — seemed to represent in one person what “Wheel” was all about. A model for an endless array of spectacular gowns and an ornament on a show whose gameplay didn’t strictly require a letter-turner as technology improved, she represented all the glamour and luxurious promise of cash prizes, free vacations and the gilded sunlight of California. And yet presenting in complete earnest, from her glee or sorrow for a contestant who won the game or who bought the wrong vowel to her utter commitment to trading pleasantries with Sajak, she was a fabulous contradiction — a quintessentially middle-American celebrity.
All of which makes the reporting — on Page Six, via the Daily Mail — that White is concerned for her future at “Wheel” an especially dispiriting piece of TV news. This follows the replacement of retiring host Sajak with Ryan Seacrest, as well as a succession drama at “Jeopardy!” that came to overtake the entire series. It also comes on the heels of reporting in Puck that White has not received a pay raise in 18 years. That alone suggests that “Wheel of Fortune” is television production of the old school in the worst sense. And if borne out, White’s fears for her professional future are only the latest sign that Sony Pictures Television, which produces both game shows, doesn’t quite understand what keeps viewers coming back.
If one were designing “Wheel” from scratch today, one likely wouldn’t include a Vanna White figure — not given that letters can reveal themselves, and her walking across the stage eats seconds that might otherwise go to adding more gameplay into the half-hour. And yet her presence speaks to a certain showmanship that’s been lost — after all, few game shows as enduringly popular as “Wheel” have been made in the years since. There’s something to its formula, and it isn’t simply the hangman-style word game. White is gifted at the emotionally intelligent gladhanding that makes television operate smoothly, and has a way, beyond the gowns and never-out-of-place hair, of accessing some core of emotion, ginning up real feeling for each of the three contestants. She in particular represented an intriguing counterbalance to Alex Trebek, on the other side of their shared hour of TV; in the best way, he could feel as though he himself were a part of the battle of wits against “Jeopardy!” contestants. White just wants everyone to win. And — just as meeting Trebek was the consolation prize for a generation of “Jeopardy!” losers — White’s nod and smile at a right answer or a lucky spin could be a win in itself.
Her ebullient good cheer has made her into a cultural icon: People know the name “Vanna White” the whole nation over. But both classic hosting modes, Trebek’s snappiness and White and Sajak’s sincerity, seem out of fashion nowadays; Trebek’s at-long-last replacements, Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings, are both competent but can read as disengaged, and Seacrest is the definition of a safe choice, at least as far as broadcasting style goes. Trained on “American Idol,” where he had to both celebrate Kelly Clarkson and subtly needle William Hung, Seacrest is just ironic enough, insincere in a way that won’t rankle anyone. Sajak and White made for a strong team, practiced in their rhythms, but from this vantage point, it feels as though Seacrest will need White more than Sajak ever did — to provide a tie back to the sort of big-tent, creamily good-natured show “Wheel” has always been. He will also need her to provide the show something of an emotional center. She’d have been a gifted host of the whole thing, had the producers chosen to go that way; she’ll certainly have a role to play as the show finds its feet with a new man at the other side of the stage.
After all, a game show presents three narratives in miniature, over a brisk half-hour: We must at once feel excitement for the person who ends up winning and sympathy for the two who do not. If that engagement isn’t there, why watch at all? And White, wordless until her final chat-and-farewell each night, may not still turn letters, but she’s doing heavy lifting. Nightly, she cues the audience at home to the mood in the room, and keeps a show that necessarily must end with two people bitterly disappointed feeling light. She deserves a bigger piece of the show’s financial success, given how large a part of its long-term status in the American TV firmament she’s been. And she deserves to play out her future on the show for as long as “Wheel of Fortune” is still about providing a low-stakes bit of confection at the end of the day. It’s not yet time for her to say good night.
I heard Vanna is demanding a raise, a big one, or she's gone.
Maybe they'll mechanize the board somehow, or have a stagehand change the letters from the back.
Vanna White is staying on Wheel of Fortune (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/vanna-white-extends-wheel-fortune-contract-will-stay-pat-sajak-departs-rcna105889#:~:text=Long%2Dtime%20%22Wheel%20of%20Fortune,of%202026%2C%20producers%20said%20Tuesday.)
Long-time "Wheel of Fortune" co-host Vanna White extended her contract and will continue turning letters on the venerable game show until at least the middle of 2026, producers said Tuesday.
James28 09-20-2023, 11:56 PM I agree with CatsRule/IceCream. Why couldn't a woman have been considered for the Wheel of Fortune hosting gig? I mean, why this quick to get just one personality and shut out others? I don't agree with Edward216 at this point. One has to wonder how long Ryan Seacrest actually lasts in that hosting gig before he opts out. (Does it really have to be Ryan Seacrest? Because the quickness of his confirmation as WoF host after next year just proves how just plain overrated he is.)
Pat Sajak will finally acknowledge his retirement on-air on tonight's Wheel of Fortune (https://www.tvinsider.com/1109708/wheel-of-fortune-pat-sajak-leaving-retirement-season-41-birthday/)
Sajak had to respond after contestant Rhachel Royal told him on tonight's episode, airing on his 77th birthday: "Congrats on your retirement, we’ll miss you when you’re gone, just do me one favor before you and help me bring this money home.” After the audience applauds, Sajak tells her it was “very nice,” but then asks, “I’m leaving? … The things you learn."

That's fine, we'll agree to disagree. I don't care, I like Ryan Seacrest and I bet he'll be the host of Wheel Of Fortune for several years. You don't like him, then don't watch it. It's as simple as that!

Ed. That is an excellent idea. If you don't like Ryan don't watch the show. I am one of few people who rarely watches the show.

I'd much rather see an explanation for the quickness of the confirmation of Pat Sajak's replacement on Wheel of Fortune rather than you giving me more reasons to bite your head off. And I've gotten real sick of the "don't like it, don't watch it" reply. What makes you think you're gonna change my mind regarding Ryan Seacrest becoming host of WoF?

Why do you need an explanation so badly as to why the announcement that Ryan Seacrest would be the new host of Wheel Of Fortune was made so quickly? LOL. It's likely Pat Sajak told the producers months before it was made public when we was going to leave the show and they got to looking for a replacement host right away and it was decided that Ryan Seacrest would be the new host by the time the announcement of Sajak's retirement was made and they just timed it so the announcement that Seacrest would take over was made public soon after that. It's pretty simple really. They just didn't want to leave people wondering who'd be the new host. And I don't particularly care if you don't like Ryan Seacrest as the new host, don't worry I'm not going to try to change your mind because I'm not into wasting my time! You don't have to watch the show anymore nobody's forcing you to, but I will and I'm going to enjoy it with Ryan Seacrest. Have a nice day.

No need to ask why, so just don't bother, because all asking why I need an explanation does is complicate things further. I wouldn't have cared if there was a guest-host rotation on Wheel of Fortune just like on Jeopardy! after Alex Trebek's death.
Were you even a fan of American Idol? Or the current run of American Top 40? It's clear that you don't want a female host replacing Pat Sajak (or eventually Ryan Seacrest) on Wheel of Fortune at all.
Dude111 12-06-2023, 03:05 AM I found the email address of Sony's CEO to contact, just sent him feedback. Kenichiro.Yoshida@jp.sony.com is his email.Thank you sweetie, ill send him a me$$age!!
Hawkee 06-05-2024, 01:58 AM You know who could've gotten the Wheel Of Fortune job and they should've considered him when they auditioned hosts? Wheel Of Fortune should've chosen actor Jason Bateman to host because when you hear Jason speak his voice sounds identical to Pat Sajak's and Jason Bateman would've been a great game show host in my eyes
Dead2009 06-05-2024, 10:59 AM I'd much rather see an explanation for the quickness of the confirmation of Pat Sajak's replacement on Wheel of Fortune rather than you giving me more reasons to bite your head off. You're a viewer. You're not owed an explanation as to why Ryan Seacrest is the host of Wheel of Fortune.
Pat Sajak is the last of TV’s old-school game show hosts (https://www.opb.org/article/2024/06/06/pat-sajak-departs-wheel-of-fortune-as-tv-s-last-old-school-game-show-host/#:~:text=While%20it's%20true%20that%20Sajak's,the%20Wheel%20of%20Fortune%20Express.)
While it's true that Sajak's departure is the end of an era for Wheel of Fortune, it's also a pivotal moment for TV game shows in general. Because Sajak is the last of TV's old-school game show hosts. Pat Sajak and Vanna White prepare to tour cities across the country in 1987 aboard the Wheel of Fortune Express.
Pat Sajak says goodbye to Wheel of Fortune as the last of TV’s old-school game show hosts (https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/vanna-white-emotional-goodbye-wheel-fortune-pat-sajak#:~:text=Weeks%20after%20Pat%20Sajak%20announced,of%20%22Wheel%20of%20Fortune.%22)
Weeks after Pat Sajak announced he would be leaving Wheel of Fortune, Ryan Seacrest has been announced as his official replacement. Seacrest will take over hosting duties in 2024. LOS ANGELES - Vanna White paid an emotional tribute to her co-host Pat Sajak Thursday ahead of his final episode of "Wheel of Fortune."
Dude111 06-07-2024, 08:29 AM While it's true that Sajak's departure is the end of an era for Wheel of Fortune, it's also a pivotal moment for TV game shows in general. Because Sajak is the last of TV's old-school game show hosts. And in my opinion the last GOOD one :(
icecream 06-07-2024, 12:35 PM Ryan Seacrest is a lot older than he used to be and has missed at least one episode of American Idol with some health problem. So he will probably host Wheel two or three years at most, then Maggie Sajak will hopefully replace him. Vanna White got screwed though, she should have been allowed to move up to host for a few years before retiring. I enjoyed her brief stint as host when Pat had his surgery.
James28 06-07-2024, 12:46 PM You're a viewer. You're not owed an explanation as to why Ryan Seacrest is the host of Wheel of Fortune.
Well, just to be blunt, yes, I am. And I happen to agree with what CatsRule said. Wheel of Fortune doesn't need to limit its options for its new host and make its selection window as short as it had been.
Hawkee 06-09-2024, 01:50 AM What I predict what will happen once Ryan Seacrest makes his Wheel Of Fortune debut in the fall is that after one season Wheel Of Fortune will do the same thing that Family Feud did with Louie Anderson by replacing Louie with Richard Karn and you can see why Louie Anderson's Family Feud failed. I think why they chose Ryan Seacrest was to offer him a huge money raise and to give him a second job in addition to Live With Kelly And Ryan. Because I think Ryan Seacrest has this fantasy that he hopes to become a superstar game show host and with Wheel Of Fortune Ryan thinks that it will be his one step closer to becoming a game show star and he will join the ranks of Regis Philbin Bob Barker Alex Trebek and the late Alan Thicke. Another game show that did put a replacement host without auditioning hosts was Who Wants To Be A Millionaire when Cedric The Entertainer quit and Terry Crews was chosen to replace Cedric and when Terry Crews hosted Who Wants To Be A Millionaire the ratings were weak and that's why Terry quit Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Chris Harrison replaced Terry Crews and then even though Who Wants To Be A Millionaire got good ratings the show was cancelled in 2019. But as for Wheel Of Fortune's fall season I can guarantee the show will get weak ratings in it's first week and I guarantee that Wheel Of Fortune will end after this season due to weak ratings
Dude111 06-09-2024, 02:07 AM Family feud is just ugly now with how they changed the stage!!!!!
I dont watch it,even if it was still in analogue I wouldnt watch it!!

Caroline13 06-11-2024, 03:24 PM Oh I posted about Vanna White's brainless job but posted in the wrong area, I guess...oh well.....they are all Overpaid Puppets....
Vanna White doesn't like working with Ryan Seacrest (https://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/3049726/vanna-white-ryan-seacrest-feud-sources/)
Many longtime fans of Wheel of Fortune were truly saddened to see the original host Pat Sajak announce his retirement from the show after over 40 years, including Vanna White. Now, with the new host, Ryan Seacrest, coming to take over in Sept for a new reason; insiders are claiming that White is having apprehensions about doing the show without Sajak.
A source recently told the DailyMail that despite months-long salary negotiations, White may be willing to throw it all away and leave early.
“There is a part of her that wants to walk away sooner. It is just so difficult to do this without Pat,” the source said. “Vanna feels that she has put her time in. She devoted her entire life to this show and she had an incredible run while making a fortune.”
Another insider added that despite her contract ending in 2026, she isn’t allegedly vibing well with Seacrest. “She just doesn’t jibe with Ryan like she did with Pat, and no one really ever expected her to. There is just no way that she possibly could,” they said.
The original source also told the outlet that all of this, coupled with the fact that the show is trying to get a younger audience, it’s all allegedly giving her second thoughts. “She knows that the show needs to go in a different direction and appeal to a younger demographic. She wants the show to continue. This will require a younger female host, someone who can be to Ryan what she was to Pat,” they said.
Hawkee 06-28-2024, 02:18 AM The first ever Wheel Of Fortune Fall advertisement debuted today on Wheel Of Fortune's Youtube channel and the new advertisement begins with Pat Sajak debuting Ryan Seacrest as the new host and Vanna White says "I'm very honored to be welcoming you to the show this season and I just know we'll be the best of friends" and the debut week will be named Ryan's Welcoming Week when the season debuts in the fall. I was so surprised that they put out this ad/trailer for Wheel Of Fortune's new season with Ryan Seacrest already so I guess Wheel Of Fortune is eager for their new audience with the upcoming season on the way

If that's true, then maybe start the search for a female host for Wheel of Fortune after a ratings decline and/or Ryan Seacrest unexpectedly departs WoF for a different endeavor? Something like this makes it look a little better now.
