View Full Version : Please add a "Like" or "Agree" option to posts
MichaelKeith 06-27-2023, 12:53 PM We need a "like" or "agree" option to comment with on other's posts. A lot of times I read a post that I agree with or like and am not able to click a small icon to indicate this. Please consider adding to all posts. thanks.
JamesG 06-27-2023, 02:38 PM Having a “dislike” button in addition would also be good.
I don’t think I’ve seen this board format (what’s it called vbulletin, or something like that?) anywhere that had a like button.
MichaelKeith 06-27-2023, 03:34 PM Take a look at the www.driveaccord.net website and you'll see in the forums section for each post on any given topic, there is a "Like" and "Agree" button at the bottom of that particular posted message.
The other TV board I do some posting at, Primetimer, has 11 button options to reply to posts, but their forums look different than here.
The buttons are (deep breath) Like, Love, LOL, Useful, Applause, Thanks, Fire, Wink, Sad, Hugs, Mind Blown
MichaelKeith 06-28-2023, 02:57 PM Yep, that's what I'm talking about. We don't have to have that many here but that's the general idea.

Bonniegirl 06-28-2023, 05:45 PM I think that would be cool. Cause sometimes I really like a post or agree with something but I don't have time to make a whole post! So a like button would let the person know you read their post.
Caroline13 06-30-2023, 02:44 PM Believe it or not there are some posts that I like and would like to give the Poster a Like.
Is that an easy Function to add?
PhoenixAcres 06-30-2023, 11:59 PM
icecream 07-01-2023, 12:47 AM If a like button/icon is added, it would be a bad idea to also have a dislike button with it. That is just asking for a lot of needless fights and hostility.
How does the hitchhiking symbol denote “like”?

Caroline13 07-01-2023, 01:26 PM The Like function is all that is needed here. Give a person a like for their info. The dislikes are a given. Silence says a lot, most of my posts get Silence.

PhoenixAcres 07-01-2023, 06:30 PM TJ has spoken on this before actually :thumbsdow

I'm still in favor of some sort of Like button, but definitely not a dislike button.
icecream 07-01-2023, 07:25 PM If adding a like button is a security risk that leads to hackers, we definitely don't need that here.

I knew he had commented on this. My search didn't work; I'm glad you found it.
I don't know of any like options for this version of vBulletin which would be easy to install. city-data is highly customized.
There's a social bookmarking option available, but I have it disabled.
The closest add-on I've seen is a thank you option. I would prefer members to be more active with actual posts. It only takes a minute to say thank you or to comment on a post.
You can always give a post a  or :thumbsdow .
I dislike the whole Reddit format with the upvotes/downvotes. It's difficult to follow threads on there.
Dude111 07-07-2023, 07:30 PM Yes CD is very customised buddy...... (And they often have problems from things not staying working)
