DVD season 4 re-release-No news

Italian Version........Currently available.......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uEItTjkmYM

English Script that goes with Tag Scene below

Here is the transcript of the final scene on 0412 Ralphs Rival

Janet & Chrisssy are sitting at the kitchen table eating bread and peanut butter (Janet is eating Bread and Chrissy is eating and spreading Peanut Butter on a slice of bread)

Chrissy: I dont like Pink I am so tired of Pink

Janet : Why Not?

Jack Walks in with a brown paper bag full of groceries and sets it on the counter.

Janet : Hi Jack! (muffled a bit with a mouth full of Peanut Butter Bread)

Jack : Well? (Annoyed tone)

Janet : Well What?

Jack : Did Furley Get us a Plumber?

Chrissy: Yeah He Did Jack

Jack : A Real Plumber?

Janet : Yes, A Real Licensed Plumber

Jack : Fantasatic! I cant wait to see a Garbage Disposal That Works Properly (As he is walking towards the sink)

Jack Turns on the Garbage Disposal and Water Shoots all over his face (just like it did earlier in the episode)

Janet : Ah You (as water is spraying everywhere)

Jack : I thought you said he got us a real plumber? (In an angry Tone)

Chrissy: Well he did but said he would be here tomorrow morning.

Jack Shakes his head and water flys all over the place as Janet and Chrissy runs around to the other side of the table as if to avoid getting wet.

They are wearing different clothes than the previous scene so it seems like maybe its the next day.

In total the scene last 36 seconds.

I just saw the Italian dub tag scene and it's weird how I guess due to limited dubbing technology in those days the audience laughter is almost inaudible once the dubbing starts.

If I knew fer sure the Italian dvd had this scene in English (I think it's cut, though) I'd splurge the ransom for it and upload the thing.

Or, if only someone could have captured the show with the second audio track intact? Too bad the dude couldn't have sneaked a recording device into the viewing room to capture the audio when he got that transcript. 'Twould be a rough, but easy, fix!

I tried but the way the viewing area was set up made it difficult. I tried to put the earphones up to the recording device and you couldn’t hear the audio on the recording. It’s a little booth with built in headphones.

Oh, that would have been awesome, though!

I have no hope that the scene will be on the new VEI release, but if by some miracle it is I will post the thing for anyone who doesn't want to re-buy the set to have a complete show.

Are u referring to the recent release with two spinoffs?

BTW: Tag scene still available for view:lol: We have come so far from 2012. There was a time we had no video or audio footage

I believe I have finally sourced this tag scene with the English audio intact from a syndication safety master. Will take a few days to get here and, if indeed fully intact, it will be posted complete. Finally.

You are quite welcome! It was also a fun project for me to track down the elements to make this episode complete. I've made a real go at finding my "holy grails" this year, and this has been tops on the list for a long time.

Tying up loose ends gives me a true feeling of satisfaction and closure.

Now that we have solved this mystery, a question for all. Can anyone load up the Chrissy calling in tag scenes from when she got rellagated to Siberia? I've looked for them on lines for years, nothing. All the cable and streaming services that air season 5, never air them. They are probably on season 5 DVD but I don't own. Thanks if anyone can help.

Heh! I know what you mean. In the case of the TC tag, we can only presume that whoever compiled the masters that ended up on the discs got the wrong copy and didn't even know it(likely some new, hot-shot 19yr old editing with Avid Liquid Pro or Vegas who never even heard of the show before).

When I worked in tv doing master control, we could get unedited shows to edit ourselves, or pre-edited shows cut to a certain time depending upon whether or not we participated in the ad barter system. Sometimes even the supposedly full-length programs, complete with color bars, and slate at the header would turn out to be cut shorter than the listed run time as they had been pre-prepped for at least 4 extra minutes of commercial time, with maybe 1-2 half-minute ads pre-packed.

And for dvd you just knowww the suits are not going to pay to dig into the archives and pull the real master copy out, pay for a new transfer and risk actual damage just for 38 seconds.. Heavens, Noooo!! They'll take whatever is quicker, like with The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart knowing that the copies are inferior, dated and edited to pieces. Just use whatever pre-existing tapes or files cost less to access.

Same thing with other shows like The Jeffersons, Gimme A Break!(I had to restore the Ray Parker, Jr. episode b/c no one else would!), Sanford and Son(The missing scene with Norman from Blood Is Thicker Than Junk only surfaced online about 2 years ago!), Sanford(why can't we see the whole 1hr first show instead of having it cut into 2 pieces with 10 minutes missing?), Good Times(Florida's Homecoming edited on dvd but NOT on the Columbia House tapes). Same thing with MASH, Our Finest Hour, presented complete on vhs but deemed "not good enough" for dvd. Really?? I copied the VHS to dvd and it looks fine!

I don't know how people can screw up so much, like, repeatedly though. How is it possible?

And on top of all that there is another DVD release of TC comes outwith no new footage, why? lol Atleast I can say the complete series of the Jeffersons was unedited and very enjoyable

The Jeffersons was a fantastic show, too. And after the iffy, original dvds with the edits and frame rate problems, I was delighted to get the complete, unedited shows in the box set. Also glad to find and rip from a streaming site the alternate edit of The Jeffersons Move Up before the laugh track was added to The Willis' scenes and the error in the credits still listing Madge Sinclair as Helen after the part was recast and reshot.

Also found a couple of All In The Family episodes on IMDB streaming a while back that were about 3 minutes longer than the dvd versions, had the "From Television City in Hollywood!", as well as color bars and slates at the head.

I still think a great bulk of vintage 70's/80's shows need a revisit in the mastering department to give us more complete versions, full endings like the Sanford and Son filmed credit sequence, fix the problems with Good Times and others. Diehard fans deserve it, and many of the shows deserve better treatment than what they've had thus far.

Ha! I remember all that. All the doubters and people sure that they were so, so right. I'm glad that someone went and proved it existed, and that it finally turned up and put my own false memory of a completely wrong ending to rest.

I no longer think of it as lost media but, rather, abandoned media. Abandoned by Fremantle and Taffner. Wonder if they'll ever dig into their archives and magically "find" the scene at some point?
