Brandon and Brenda and by proxy, their parents, are the heart and focus of the show. Without them, there would've been no purpose for the show to begin with, even with it being an ensemble of sorts. Obviously, this changes in light of Shannen Doherty's exit after Season 4 (http://www.televisionofyore.com/beverly-hills-90210---season-4.html), but it remains true for Brandon for the entirety of Jason Priestley's stay. Therefore, his exit in the beginning of Season 9 (https://www.televisionofyore.com/beverly-hills-90210---season-9.html) would have a tremendous impact on both the show and his character. And whether or not you believe the show should have ended upon his departure or at any other time... the events that followed Brandon Walsh's subpar drive away from Beverly Hills are still worth taking a long, hard look at.
