LUCILLE BALL 08-28-2002, 11:26 PM At 5:45am of a Dissecting Aortic Aneyrysm 8 days after she had surgery to repair a previous attack from April 18, 1989. At Cedars Sinai Hospital. The doctor was Robert Kass.
Will and Grace Fanatic 08-29-2002, 01:56 AM Wow, she died on my Grandpa's birthday and 3 days before mine. Except for the year of course.
LucyFan 08-29-2002, 10:09 PM She died at age 77 (according to some resources) on April 26th, 1989. Please keep in mind that April 26th was also the birthday for Carol Burnett, one of Lucy's most dearest friends.
SOAPDYNASTY 09-07-2002, 03:01 AM How sad she looks so sick in that picture :(
SPLAIN 09-18-2002, 10:39 AM That's the saddest looking thing i've ever seen in my life, i have NEVER seen that before, obviously this is not from the last trip as there are flowers in the back, so it's when she was there previously, imagine how bad she must have looked on the last trip, they said she was white as a sheet when she came in!

I'm pretty sure that picture was taken when she was released from the hospital after her 1988 stroke. She looks the same and is wearing the same clothes as she was in those pictures the mean tabloids took of her at the time. She probably felt worse physically than she ever had in her life. Think about the time in your life when you were sicker than you've ever been and how it would feel at that time to have strangers rushing your vehicle to take pictures of you in that condition to show the world. Those people have no morals.
SPLAIN 09-19-2002, 09:17 AM Very well said, and true! Did you guys ever see the movie Postcards from the edge with Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine, in it Shirley is hospitalized and she's shown without make up, every time i see it i think of Lucy, she puts on a turban like the one Lucy's wearing in that picture and puts on eye brows as Lucy did every day, and she puts on a fur coat and walks out with her head help up high and faces the photographers, always reminds me of Lucy, AND Gary even had a part in this picture, so he could have been the one to give them that idea, it was released a year following her death!

That's very interesting. I bet you're right that they had Lucy in mind when they wrote that scene. It sounds like something Gary would do. Re: my earlier comment, I said that picture was taken when Lucy was released from the hospital after her stroke. Actually, I think it was taken on the day she went to the hospital when she had just suffered the stroke.
LUCILLE BALL 09-19-2002, 05:19 PM I kinda had this idea taht Lucy was taken to the hospital at like 5am because she got up like really early to use the bathroom nd felt her arm n her lap, and fell before she got to bed, she also said she knew her way in the dark and did not need lights so I am assuming it was like early in the morning. Unless Gary made her lay on the floor until He decided to get up and take her.
