While not a kill off, a stupid sendoff can be just as equivalent in bad as a stupid kill-off.

So in the Sex and the City spinoff, And Just Like That, Willie Garson the actor who played Stanford passed away in real life due to cancer.

But the writers made his character disappear with him divorcing his husband to go to Japan to manage a TikTok account.

The writers didn't want to write in another death/funeral into the series in the same season, as the show already had one for Big, Carrie's lover, but I thought it was lame way to send off the Stanford character that he just splits. It would have been more just to actually have another death/funeral included in the season than a lame send off.

It was similar to when Edna left Laverne's dad on Laverne & Shirley.

I don't know if it's stupid, but I was shocked and upset the way they killed off Lucy on ER.
