Milton Berle lost a lot of his influence once his days as Mr. Television was over. Nowhere was this clearer than when he had a guest star on Saturday Night Live.

oddly enough i kind of enjoyed the berle ep of snl sure he was hard to work with but over the years i have seen much worse eps than his

SNL Producer Lorne Michaels hated this episode so much that he banned it from reruns for several years.

I think it aired only once on the network and wasn't seen again for decades.

It is on the season four DVD box set and streaming on Peacock.

Most Youtube content creators(hacks)that cover popular media, hardly research a topic and just spout off opinions as if it is all cold hard facts. Last place anyone should go, to learn anything about television history. Honestly it's better to search thrift stores, your ye' olde library for books, or maybe look for old or even recent interviews from the people who were actually there, or worked on the show.

Youtube has its advantages and purpose, but a random content creator who has probably never set foot on a studio set and is just begging for views, likes and subscriptions, is not one of them.

What's even worse, is the few who do take the time to research a topic and seek out an interview, if possible before spewing out a video, dont even get the clicks. It's usually the Youtube dum dums who are getting most of the views and subscriptions for shock videos.

Watchmojo.com and their top 20, 10 or whatever lists are another youtube offender in the" just run with opinions and do no real research before dropping videos".

Ah yes, watchmojo.com ! with their subjective lists & such.

I admit I do like to see some sports highlights/lowlights that are counted down a la Casey Kasem; but the creators know for the most part that disagreement/controversy is the order of the day on most of those videos. Often a comment will contain “How could you NOT have [extra video] on this!!”

As far as Uncle Miltie goes, his schtick in the early days of television would never fly today, but his Texaco Star Theater was appointment viewing in the cities that could see it, not to mention folks gathering together to view ONE TV in public places, due to television being a luxury in the early fifties.

I remember watching one “Texaco” show (made in 1949 I think), and he would tell a joke, got no reaction, and remarked, “I SAID…..” repeating as if nobody heard. IIRC that went on a lot.

Miltie was who he was. Funny to some, not to others, IMO. I think I saw a photo of him during his last years, posing with the rock band Aerosmith, I guess trying to remain relevant! :)

He just came across to yours truly as one who was hard to work with. Seemingly wanting to be top banana in everything.
