Has anyone here ever been one or hosted one?

One of my friends is going to Venezuela as one for a year- leaves in a few days. Id be sooo freaked out to be away for that long, especially in a place thats been having so many problems lately.

Another friend is hosting one from Italy. Its soo cool cause we met her at a party last week and shes working on her english. And when I was leaving and hugged everyone and said bye to people and stuff. She did the little hug and kiss both cheeks thing like they do in parts of Europe.

Im considering taking the opportunity to do an exchange for a semester in france. I dont know how I feel about leaving my life here and living with total strangers for so long. Id be scared to death and have so much trouble communicating...but it would be an incredible experience.

my friend went to spain....and another friend went to france...I think that it would be cool to host a student or to go to a foreign country

5 years ago my sister had a girl from Norway staying with her. It was a very nice experience. She keeps in touch and visits every summer:)

Well, we've never had an exchange student... but my mom lived in Japan with this family for like six months when she was younger...so the family she stayed with came a couple of times to the states to visit...and about a year ago their daughter (she was around 18) came by herself so we had her for like a month. She wasn't an exchange student though....she just came cuz she wanted to, lol.

AH!!!! You made made me sad! We had 3 in our school (None at our house) last here. This cool chick from Italy (Chiara). I loved her. Now she's gone. :crying:

Then we had some dude from Russia, but I didn't like him too much. He like seduced all the girls and hated all teh guys. But whatever, he's gone.

But teh last one was horrible. We had this little guy from Germany, and he was so mean and fake to us. I told him once I was Polish, and he hated me teh rest of teh year. He hung around with teh punks cause they thought he had a cute accent ( :rolleyes: ) And like dissed teh rest of us.

This year, I've only seen one. He's in my Spanish IV claas and he's from Madrid. He's pretty cool. :D
