OMG, yay! LOL. I actually LIKE this lineup. I am hoping BLTT stays the same, but I have a feeling it won't (I'm hoping that at least Dennis and Donna come to it at 10:00am, but then where would that leave Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour?).

Anyway, Maverick, Bob Newhart & Shazam! are a surprise to me. I really didn't expect to see Shazam! added at all. I am *very* glad Archie Bunker's Place is coming, but why the heck did they have to move Lucy to 11:30? Well, maybe I can start watching her again there.

Love Boat in the afternoon is good, maybe I can start watching it. What's the Superman event for? I'm not complaining, lol, but why are they having it (meaning is it an anniversary or something?). I'm surprised at Happy Days at 8:30pm. Different. It's nice that TV Land is changing it's primetime lineup a bit. All in all *I* like the new lineup. The only good thing about the Kitschen is Shazam!. Will Fernwood 2Night & Flying Nun still be airing the same episodes we already saw? I hope not, but I think so, lol.

Also, I hope Superman sticks around at 3:30am! I just started recording it again, LOL. (With my recent luck, it'll be gone!)

Yes! Fernwood 2night is coming back, along with Bob Newhart, The Flying Nun, and Maverick.*shocked* The TV Land KitSchen changed which took me by surprise. Its dissapointing to see the current KitSchen line-up to be replaced, which was a very good line-up, but what threw me back, was when Shazam! was coming. Well, Its good to see Archie Bunker's Place, finally on the schedule, lol. I hope BLTT will not change, and they'll keep the current schedule. I'm trusting Superman will stay at 3:30am. I hope they don't drop it. Anyways, more things wil probably build-up and come-by when we see the full schedule.

i love lucy isnt going to be on at 9 anymore!! im gonna cry and then beat gillians island up. honestly thats not fair to lucy cos if u look. its on at 4:00 & 4:30. and they are taking off lucy desi comedy hour and the 2 episodes for happy days,munsters,gillian and the brady bunch, even tho those shows are on like all day long. i dont think it seems fair. i thought tv land would be a good home for lucy, but it seems like they are just throwing it out. ugh

Well, I've been waiting to see Archie Bunker's Place for awhile, so why did they have to stick it in that time slot? I'm glad Happy Days will be on at 8:30, but the ABP time slot is a disappointment.

I don't like the new Kitschen Lineup.I would have preferred "The Powers that Be" or even "Forever Fernwood" more than "Shazam!"! of course I would have also wanted Perfect Strangers to stay as well and why is ABP on so late?

I'm glad Batman is still around and I'm happy that ABP is coming. I'm disappointed in ABP's time slot too, but at least its finally arrived.

I think the October schedule for TV Land is good but it seems quite unfair for fans of certains shows. For instance, I Love Lucy will be dropped from prime-time and Lucy Saturdays will be gone. That is a MAJOR disappiontment. I don't see The Andy Griffith Show being dropped from its TWO prime-time slots and that show has been BOTH on TV Land and prime-time longer than I Love Lucy. Then they have claimed that the network is the perfect home for I Love Lucy. Ya right . . . at least not anymore. :rolleyes: I think TV Land favors on shows and the most favored show is most definitely THe Andy Griffith Show. I honestly don't see anything special about the show. I don't find it funny as I Love Lucy at all. In my book, I Love Lucy is better than The Andy Griffith Show by a landslide. Please don't find this offensive Andy Griffith Show fans . . . right now I am just really annoyed at TV Land.

I can't believe they are getting rid of Perfect Strangers. I can see Square Pegs, it only had 20 episodes but PS lasted for 7 years.

I wonder if yet again "Charlie's Angels" will be as Inspector Closeau says 'bimped" from the line up?

That western channel is going to show the early seasons of Gunsmoke I believe. TV Land shows the later ones only.

LucyFan, I do agree with you, somewhat, but (I'm not a fan of Andy Griffith SHow at all, btw) Andy Griffith only has two timeslots, while Gilligan's Island has THREE, Beverly Hillbillies has FOUR, and Leave it to Beaver has FOUR also, so it's not just Andy Griffith, but I so agree that TV Land favors certain shows. I understand Andy Griffith Show brings in the ratings, but sheesh. Well, at least now, with Lucy at 11:30, hopefully no more split screens, just voice-overs.

Sadly yes. It use to be at a better time when it came to the network. Like all shows that come, they all wind down to a worse slot later. So when a show first comes to a network, enjoy it when it is at a good time, that is what I have learned.

Yeah, both Barney Miller and Get Smart had at least 4 airings a day, then of course, both got stuck at 1 airing a day, both early in the morning. I say also, enjoy the shows that air four times a day because, it may not last long, although it'll be interesting what happens when Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and Sanford and Son come in 2003 and we'll see if TV Land really does favor some shows... LOL, rambling again, but I really think all the airings of certain shows are basically just fillers (I hope). Oh, and look at I Love Lucy, a true classic, but come October, it's on at 11:30pm instead of 9pm and the Saturday night Lucy block is gone, so it's such a shame, TV Land is treating Lucy awful. And Charlie's Angel is also stuck at 5:00am, Superman at 3:30am. Hey, at least these airings are better than nothing, right?

Possibly even Good Times in 2003...
Since TBS loses rights after 12/31/02, but I'm just speculating about it 'might' coming to TV Land. No guarantees yet.

I hope TV Land picks up Good Times, thanks for telling us when TBS loses the rights, lol, good thing I've been recording the show while I can!

I'm not Pavanbadal, but I've noticed a pattern, TV Land airs shows for about 2 years, then dumps them. A few shows are brought back a few times (Maude, Munsters, Bob Newhart, Leave it to Beaver, and many more) so record while you can. With this Viacom thing, and Screen Gems Deal, I have no idea how long shows will last on TV Land, so like I said, record all you can, while you can, because you just never know anymore. I hope Pavanbadal can answer your question a bit better than I did.

Oh, regarding Viacom, Viacom owns TV Land, Nick at Nite, TNN, and several other stations, meaning, they can pretty much control what airs. Like recently TNN had Diff'rent Strokes scheduled through September, but it was unexpectedly pulled. So you just don't know. And the Screen Gems Deal is where shows distributed by Screen Gems (Donna Reed, S.W.A.T., Rookies, etc.) air on TV Land, but only 36-40 episodes are broadcast before being pulled, mainly due to the fact that TV Land is converting the episodes from video to digital, so that limits availability on episodes.

Also, many times, TV Land and other stations pull shows quickly when they lose the rights. TV Land aired Hogan's Heroes and Mannix for SIX years, and both left in May 2002. TV Land as far as I know, has a huge library of programming they can show. I really wish I could find a list of all the shows TV Land/Nick @ Nite/TNN have access too, and how long they have access. I know TV Land still has the rights to Bob Newhart (which is finally coming back) and Chico & the Man (it's still listed on the shows list at tvland.com). So, maybe Pavanbadal can print up a list of what shows those networks have access too, and for how long??

Also, shows distributed by Viacom can swap networks, cases in point? Well, Charles In Charge's distribution rights were bought by Viacom for one year (ending in May 2003) and a few months later, it showed up on Nick at Nite, and The Waltons left TNN, but a while later showed up on TV Land, and vice versa with A-Team.

I think the deal is for 4 years for that show. Could be 2. If I were I'd tape them all just in case.

Good Schedule! A B+ Overall. Not a fan of Shazam! But, Bob Newhart Show needs a better timeslot. (like in the evening) or at least it could be repeated at that time. Brady Bunch should be in between the 2-4 slot. Bob Newhart should be later, because BNS, has a more "adult appropriate" humor. I am a fan of all classic TV though so I am pretty impressed with this schedule.

I'm just curious about all the people who have posted how happy they are that Archie Bunker's Place has been added to TVLand's lineup. Have any of you people actually seen this show? It's less than a mediocre follow-up to All in the Family. It was NEVER funny. They even had to start using canned laughter in place of a studio audience. AITF is a classic, but ABP is horrible. Everything that made AITF great is missing from this show. Archie's banter with Edith, and his fights with Mike are what made that show a classic. But those great characters are all gone from ABP. ABP is like The Andy Griffith Show without Barney, or The Lucy Show without Viv. The magic formula is gone.

That I can understand, if you've only seen one episode. My prediction is you won't be a regular viewer of the show. As for AITF losing steam after Mike and Gloria left, I definitely agree. I think AITF was pretty boring in its final season. Now imagine how much steam would be lost with Mike, Gloria AND Edith gone from the show. That's what you have with ABP. To make matters worse, they had this contrived situation where Archie, of all people, is raising these two girls (neither of whom had much of a personality).

I agree that "Archie Bunker's Place" is inferior to "All in the Family." I strongly feel like others that the series lost an important part of itself when Sally and Rob left; Stephanie and the Barney/Blanche saga was a poor substitute. I think the series at the very least should have ended with "Too Good Edith." Having said this I am still looking forward to seeing ABP again. And yes I have seen more than one episode; I have seen them all and use to watch the series on Sunday nights on CBS. Granted the series faded rather quickly but ABP did manage to crank out some good episodes among the clinkers. I am anxious to see the episode in which Sammy Davis JR returns, the one in which Stephanie's temple is bombed, and the custody fight between Stephanie's grandmother played by Celeste Holm and Archie. I guess many people's reasons for being happy that ABP is coming to the network is due to the fact that they either never saw an episode or like in my case have not seen one for many years and wish to see the series; good or bad, again.

OMG :( what an *awful* revised lineup! And how much frickin Brady Bunch do they plan to shove down our throats? Too much repetition IMO. Still a good schedule, for some shows. Big mistake getting rid of Waltons & Charlie's Angels. TV Land is making major mistakes.

I have yet another bone to pick. Why didn't TV Land *think* and put Barney Miller on at 2:00pm? I mean, TV Land really makes *no sense* at times. Pav, do you have any idea why the Waltons and Charlie's Angels are gone? I am glad that The Jeffersons are getting a Twice as Nice slot, but I still think they could've placed Barney Miller on at 2:00pm. Why the heck are they replacing Batman in the afternoons? I thought it was a high rated program? TV Land is acting awfully weird, LOL!

I'm sorry if I offend any Brady fans, but I think The Brady Bunch needs to jump into a big bon fire and burn. All 117 episodes. How much of that corny, boring, not funny at all show will they throw at us? They should get rid of Bradys, or move it back to extremely early morning where it was probably being killed in the ratings (curtusey of Kate & Allie), and bring back Charlie's Angels to a good slot.

I hate this schedule. Absolutely hate it. The only thing I watched in the afternoon on tvland was Batman and Beaver. Now that Batman is smushed into a graveyard time slot. I'm going to email tvland and raise hell. At least they are bring ABP, but I hate the rest of the schedule. Hate it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I totally agree about the Bradys. I confess I did watch this show as a kid. But by my mid teens, it dawned on me one day how terrible this show is. I haven't been able to bear it since. The comedy and plots are so contrived. The jokes are make-me-throw-up corny. And the lines are so uncharacteristic of the way kids talk and behave. The success of this series in reruns has me scratching my head the same way the success of other equally silly shows like Gilligan's Island, Laverne & Shirley and Happy Days do. I would like to think Americans were too sophisticated and intelligent for this sort of stuff, but I guess many aren't. But alas, artistically superior and intelligent shows like The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show are also popular in reruns. So I remain hopeful.

I think that's the key, what you just said, *when you were a kid*. When I was a kid, I liked GI, too. But now, I can't tolerate two seconds of it. It's so juvenile and mindless. It's hard to imagine those scripts were actually written by adults.

Yay! I am looking forward to "She's the Sheriff", even though I hear it's horrible LOL, but I'll still watch it to see Suzanne in it. "Bridget Loves Bernie" seems like a good show, I'm looking forward to seeing Audra Lindley and Meredith Baxter in that. It's great that they're airing #84 of "Soap", at least they'll be showing one of the later episodes. Also looking forward to seeing "Finder of Lost Loves".

I think the revised schedule is pretty good even though one of my favorite dramas isn't on it *le sigh* But I am looking forward to ABP and Bob Newhart Show. I guess you have to take the good with the bad.

This new revised schedule is great. More Jeffersons and Brady Bunch. Now all they have to do is dump The Beverly Hillbillies and The Andy Griffith Show and add more Batman.

I think you need to understand that some sitcoms aren't made to be serious. In this already-adult-driven world, I think TV shouldn't be crowded with shows basically written for adults. The writers aren't telling you how to do your job, I don't think you should criticize theirs.

Yes it came end of April. No chance of TV Land dumping it. They paid a lot for it, and I assume it is a 4 year deal, not sure though. I guess it got bad ratings at 3 and 3:30 p.m., since it was originally scheduled for October then. It really did well in it's first month or so, the marathon and the 7-8 p.m. slot.

Most of the shows TV Land airs they don't give a chance, and some have better chances at getting better timeslots. I wonder why they are taking off most of the shows people want to watch or are getting good ratings and additionally adding shows in that time-slot, that have aired or already had a better chance at showing up, on the schedule. Atleast they are giving us more advantages and a opportunity to see some rarely seen sitcoms in their box sets, sunday bests, and their TV Land Kitschen. :D

The Tabitha series didn't make sense. Tabitha was born in a 1966 episode of Bewitched. This Tabitha series aired 11 years later, but Tabitha was something like 25 on that show. I'll probably record it for 4 a.m. and then watch it during the 3 p.m. timeslot. It just eats up tape though. I set the tape for like 3:54 so I can get the little trivia bit before it comes on and then end it at 5:10. I can always rewind the to the end of the episode, but it's still kind of cuts tape time quite a bit. I do need to count my blessings don't I? They could've yanked them completely off. 4 a.m is better than nothing, I suppose.

I am sure this has been asked before, but do you work for TV Land/Nick@Nite or do you have an "inside source"? Just about all the info you give is right on target.
I'm very impressed!!!

Reason I ask, I have a few friends who work in tv ( as well as radio ) and whenever I ask whats coming up on their station ( 2-3 months in advance ) I was told that I will just have to wait along with the other viewers. One of them ( who works for the local NBC outlet here ) went as far as telling me they have a policy that if they would leak out the schedule prior to when the new TV Guide hits stores ( about a week in advance ) they would get fired.

Kinda surprised Viacom would release such info so far in advance ( though its a good thing they do ), guess its different with cable networks.

I think you have done a great job in getting these schedules out to us and just thought you deserved some recognition!

It's probably your tape speed, you have to adjust it to SLP or EP for the full rotation, if you have it set at SP of LP you might not get the best results, it speeds up the process. I suggest you re-set it, for a longer recording time, I hope this helps.

My bedroom vcr runs on the EP speed and the living room runs on SLP. I don't usually set the vcr for Batman at 3. I just press the record button. I'll have to get my brain ready for setting it every morning now.

I've never felt "All in the Family" had any place being rerun on Nick-At-Nite. That is a kid's network and a show like AITF has no place being syndicated where kids might see it. It was an adult show 30 yrs ago and it is an adult show now. "Archie Bunker's Place" was just plain BAD TV. I simply can't believe that thing ran four years. It was just horrible. "I Love Lucy" is on at such bad times now. So sad. But, you can always catch "The Brady Bunch" which has been ran far too many times.

:lol: Archie Bunker's Place was GREAT TV! It ran for four years (1979-1983) and it's appeal was rooted in history. For people like me who enjoy cerebral comedy Archie Bunker's Place was a blast. It was a television version of the radio comedy "Duffy's Tavern" in many ways. The show did fair in the ratings but what did it in was an unfair decision by CBS to ax the show after the 1982-1983 season. It was in it's summer rerun period when CBS out-of-the-blue axed it in 1983...no final episode was produced. This made Carroll O'Connor ticked off at CBS and when he came out with "In The Heat of the Night" he took the show to NBC in 1988! Well, NBC aired the show until the summer of 1992 and CBS came calling. Carroll and CBS dropped their bitterness and CBS aired the drama from the fall of 1992 through 1994...before it too was axed. I wouldn't call Archie Bunker's Place BAD.. you just have to understand it's quirkiness and embrace all the wacky people who dropped in every week.

Nick has always been a kids show from morning until night but at prime time it has always been a classic t.v. network. I see nothing wrong with NickatNite showing All in the Family. If parents don't want their kids to watch it, then they shouldn't allow them to watch. Its up for parents to be parents and not t.v. networks to be parents. All in the Family is certainly more fitting to watch than many of todays sex ridden t.v. shows. Also, All in the Family comes on late at night. Usually kids aren't up at that late hour(at least if their parents are doing their job). And really Archie Bunkers Place wasn't too bad. It certainly wasn't up to par with All in the Family but it was fairly good in its own right.

Oh, cut the elitist BS! Cerebral comedy, my ass! Just because you like ABP and nobody else does, that doesn't make it cerebral comedy. Give me a break! :rolleyes: ABP was NOT great TV. The characters you call quirky were totally uninteresting and unoriginal (unlike the truly inventive and original characters for that other series set in a bar, Cheers). And the writers of ABP starting scraping the bottom of the barrel for jokes, sometimes tossing realism completely aside for the sake of a laugh. I watched an episode of ABP the other night out of curiosity and it reminded me of the reasons I hated this show when it was originally on. I can't remember what the remark was that someone in the bar made, but all the bar patrons responded to it in unison with some Archie Bunkerism. It was so unrealistic and stupid; this sort of thing would have never made it's way into an AITF script from the early years. But the very glue that held AITF together -- Edith, Mike, and to some extent, Gloria -- was gone, so I guess the writers had no choice but to make desperate, if not futile, attempts at humor. The unfortunate result of this show is that it sullied the reputation of AITF in the same way that The Golden Palace did to The Golden Girls and AfterM*A*S*H did to M*A*S*H.
