My first intro into this world was when I found myself in the sales office of a high tech company in Silly Valley (Silicon). This was on a Mac desktop and of course I resisted and resisted and resisted. But finally jumped into the pool.
Once I left that company and got back to So. Cal I ended up with 3 desktops from 2005 until now, Dell and another one and today I'm enjoying the Lenovo Pro that keeps doing it's thing. I've only had Windows 7's and that is what I still work on.
Found out today that I don't have anti virus on this Lenovo and now looking at
downloading Avast free anti virus protection. I had Avast on my first system in 2005 which was a Dell.
So question: Anyone here use Avast?:)

Im on Win98se and havent used an AV in about 7 or 8 years.. It was just bogging stuff down for nothing really.....
I have scripts disabled usually and active X locked down.... If you know what your doing,ya dont really need an AV :)
I havent ever used Avast..... I had Mcafee 8.0

Thanks Dude, I've had no Virus issues and a lot of stuff I won't open. I'm considering the Avast for this older Lenovo system. Talking to my friend and she follows Kim Komando and Kim says WATCH out for deep fakes, if in doubt Delete.
It seems to be getting dirtier and dirtier out there.

I also disable Scripts and cookies too as I don't have anti virus program on my PC either (Win 7) and never had a problem. Microsoft quit updating security patches for Win 7, so was looking to upgrade to Win 11. Walmart sell a desktop mini PC with Win 11 for $199 without a keyboard and mouse. It look very tempting :)

For me, Win 7 is why fix if not broken. Win 7 has served me very well since 2005, and my whole life is not on the puter....Limited and simple is all I NEED.
Thought someone here would have said they use Avast but not heard from anyone on that.
I certainly don't consider myself a computer whiz but at almost 85 some people out there tell me I
am doing great for my age.

I have the free version of Malwarebytes (antivirus) (you must manually run the free version, but it only takes a few seconds to run). Apple recommended it for my old Mac, so I also added it to my newer one.
Apple also does not support very old operating system software. I ran into the situation where my old computer would not run Big Sur (macOS 11), but they continued to support 10.15 Catalina and probably still do.
