Bill Hader is celebrating his 45th birthday. Hader was born and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and made some short films during his high school years. After a couple of years of college, he moved to Los Angeles and found work as a production assistant.

Hader has a long list of Emmy nominations, including about a dozen as the co-creator, writer, director and star of Barry, which recently concluded its four-season run on HBO. Hader won two Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series during the show’s run.

After his move to Los Angeles, Hader took comedy classes at Second City and formed a sketch comedy troupe. Actress Megan Mullally saw one of his shows and arranged an audition with Saturday Night Live. Hader spent eight seasons with SNL and received a pair of Emmy nominations. In 2008, he became part of the creative team for South Park, and shared an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program in 2009.

Hader made his feature film debut in You, Me and Dupree in 2006. In the next several years, he had supporting roles in a number of films, primarily comedies such as Superbad, Adventureland, and Paul. In 2014, he starred in a more dramatic role in The Skeleton Twins. More recently, he has had major roles in Trainwreck, Maggie’s Plan, It Chapter Two, and Noelle.

Hader co-created and stars on the mockumentary series Documentary Now! It has been nominated for three Emmys for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series. He also has a long list of television and feature film voice acting credits.
