I found this info on the GREAT COMEDIANS OF COLOR website. I'm assuming LAz would be in it. If anyone elses know more info feel free to share. :)
Are You Ready For 4 Hours Of Fun And Laughter?
That's what LTG has in store for you coming this Labor Day weekend, Sunday, September 1st. Were giving you not one, but two fantastic performance events. First up is an encore performance of this past Spring comedy hit, "Great Comedians of Color" http://www.livetheatregang.com/great_comedians_of_color.htm. For those of you who didn't get a chance to catch this hilarious comedy the first time, or maybe you wanna see it again, well this is your chance. Its a stand-up comedy revue and theatrical play, all rolled up in one. Featuring, Dark Gable Most as Redd Foxx, Eric Thomas as the legendary Bret Williams. Great Comedians is a winner at the Connecticut Comedy Festival and is scheduled for tours around the country. Hey New York, this might be your last time to catch this classic for a while, so Gang, make sure you don't miss out.

Laz will not be able to be in this performance, as he is still touring in Massachusetts as Oberon in "A Midsummer Night's Dream". I believe that runs until the 3rd. He did seem to think that he would be able to join the cast of GCOC for the tour mentioned in the above info, though--let's all pray that he can!

Thanks for the info! I noticed they hadn't mentioned his name but had thought maybe they forgot to mention it. I sure hope they tour the country with Laz. If they do they have to make a stop in RIchmond, VA so we can go. Oh please!!!! :) Good luck with his shows he is in. It reminds me so much of Freddie as he was first starting out... :)

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Laz and GCOC come to a city near everyone who frequents this board, and that you all get to see it! It is well worth sitting through the somewhat shocking beginning--portrayals of "typical" comedians of today--in order to see all the performers as the comedy legends of the past, not just Laz as Freddie.
Unfortunately, even if it came to the big city nearest to me (which as Cheryl knows is Columbus, OH--LOL!), I doubt I could persuade my husband to take me there. Even if I did, Laz's part of the opening I mentioned above is especially outrageous--it would not leave my husband inclined to stick around for the rest of the show, much less to meet Laz!

Too bad you can't convince your hubby to go if he comes up there. Maybe you could go with someone else. I am so lucky to have a husband who goes with me places like that etc. I can get him to go with me to see Arlo & stuff & fortunately he & Arlo have become good friends. Maybe if he met Laz your hubby would become friends with him too. I am so lucky!
There must be a Freddie fan around Columbus cuz... There is this store up there that is run by a lady named Colleen where she sells old records, books, magazines & stuff on stars. I like to go there when we go to Mikes sisters. This yr I had a devil of a mess getting up there cuz when I called her store to see what hrs she was open there was a message on her ansering service saying she was closed cuz she was selling stuff at the Ohio State Fair. The last day we were day she was finally reopened. So I called her to see what time she closed & she said 6. We get up there & she tells us she closed at 5 pm due to unpacking stuff from the fiar so we didn't get to shop there. :( She did ask what we were looking for. She didn't have any Freddie stuff but she did say there was someone at the fair that came by her booth & asked if she had any stuff on Freddie. Sounds like you & I need to meet this person & they need to come on these boards & hang out with us. :)

Cheryl, I guess I missed the person you mentioned when she was at the Ohio State Fair, cuz I looked in the antiques and memorabilia building (the yellow and green wooden one with open sides--I think it used to be a livestock display building), and I found no one selling stuff re old TV shows. I did browse through a collection of 45's looking for the Charlene song, but no dice!

Sorry you missed her booth. She has a store in Columbus, on Oakland Park Ave which is off of Cleveland Ave. I didn't get to go to the Ohio State Fair & have never been. It would've been nice to have come across that person who was looking for Freddie stuff tho. I am looking for the Charlene record & still haven't found it yet...

That is near the fairgrounds, a looooong way from where I live LOL! Sorry you missed the fair--we went on the hottest day, because that was the day my husband had scheduled off from work (grrrrr)!
Re the Charlene song, I got to hear the tape of it that Luckymama had--it was sooooo beautiful and sweet and sad! Then she won the sheet music off of eBay and scanned it and sent me a copy--since I am studying voice I plan to learn it soon.
