“Lucy Wants A Paris Gown”:

Note: For XMas in the 2000s, I remember when TV Land showed one of their Merryathons in the early 2000s, they included this episode even though there are NO references to Christmas at all. I also remember this decision being criticized.

Note: This episode holds a special place in my heart since it’s one of the first I Love Lucy episodes that I saw as a kid. When living in NJ, in one early 1990s summer morning, I was flipping the channels and came across an I Love Lucy airing on WNYW. I knew that the station carried the reruns but at that point I didn’t watch them in general. The scene that I saw where the Fab Four climbed the mountain had me hooked for a bit and since I saw Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance on the Lucy Show (a show that I did watch), it was so strange for me seeing them as wives and for Fred to call Vivian Ethel. My how times have changed since I have been a fan of I Love Lucy since 1995. Also, I loved that when the heart on satin closes at the end, at the beginning you can hear the off screen orchestra play “La Cucuracha.” One of the rare times this happened. Sadly when this episode aired on Hallmark they sped up the heart on satin closing that you can’t hear the orchestra playing the above song.
