The controversial quarterback in the 1960s who wore pantyhose in a TV commercial was Joe Namath. Namath, also known as "Broadway Joe," was a star quarterback for the New York Jets in the AFL and NFL during the 1960s and 1970s. He gained a reputation for his flamboyant lifestyle and was known for his endorsement deals and appearances in commercials, including the famous ad for Hanes Beautymist pantyhose in 1974.
