One scene for me is in "Roseanne" when Dan is reprimanding Becky and Darlene for hurting Roseanne. They had tricked her on Mother's Day. They had taken her out for a nice day and made her think that they were celebrating with her. In reality, they were just trying to bribe her into letting them go to a concert. Roseanne was so hurt, and Dan had a talk with them.

That scene was so well-done that it actually seemed like you were watching a real father get on to his daughters. The acting is so superb. I was 12 when this episode originally aired, just a few years younger than Becky and Darlene. I remember feeling like I was getting in trouble too, lol. Even watching it now in my 40s I still get a tense feeling in my stomach. As soon as Dan tells Becky and Darlene to come out of the bathroom where he can talk to them and he says "Now!", they know they are in trouble. They look at each other like "oh, no". Lol

One of the best examples I can think of is on that "Courtship of Eddie's Father" episode when Tom scolds and whacks Eddie when Tom catches Eddie leaning over the apartment balcony. One of THE most dramatic interactions on any sitcom/dramedy I have ever seen.

In sitcoms especially family oriented sitcoms you would always see this happen especially in the 80's and 90's sitcoms. Take for example take a look at the Growing Pains episode Dirt Bike from Season 1 because in that episode Maggie and Jason Seaver told Mike that he was allowed to go camping with his friends but NO dirt biking and when Mike has his accident Maggie and Jason didn't even know about Mike getting in a dirt bike accident until the doctor called and they got mad at Mike at the end and grounded him but he went to the movies anyway and that episode is an example how sitcom parents would get mad at their kids. Another sitcom that did this all the time was Malcolm In The Middle and anytime Malcolm did something Malcolm's parents would get mad at him but blamed Dewey for it and anytime Dewey would do something Malcolm's parents would be mad at Dewey but it would be Malcolm's fault. And I don't know why sitcom parents started doing this in family sitcoms. But I guess the writers wanted to see how in real life parents would get mad at their kids and they incorporated that into the sitcoms today
