I just got a email from Luis.He and Isaac (Mando) are planing on visiting with Maria on Sept.21,2002.He was wondering if anyone had any questions or comments for Maria.He said he will try to get her response and return emails or pass the response on to me so I can post them at my site.So let me know and I will get in touch with Luis to let him know.:clap: :lol:

Yeah Hillbilly that is great I received notice also that Luis and Isaac are making plans to meet with Maria. Isaac had written to me and said Maria was looking forward to there visit! Luis had said that it has been over 20 years since Isaac and him have seen each other.

That's great! I'm glad she's still holding up after all of these years.

If I remember correctly when I had spoke to Isaac a week ago about the reunion. He had contacted her and from what I remember he had said that he moved to Arizona around the time Maria had moved to Puerto Rico which was around the early to mid 80's.

That was definately years ago, I was still a little girl around that time.

From what I read she couldn't afford to keep the house Freddie gave her. So sadly she had to sell it & move to Puerto Rico with relatives. I wonder who lives in her house & Freddies now? Hope she's doing okay.

If Isaac/Mando or Luis is reading this or word can get to them could they tell her my hubby Mike & I are both diabetic like her & in support of her & will be keeping her in our thoughts & prayers... :)

I've seen a photo of the inside of the house with Maria and Karl standing next to a huge portrait of Freddie in the living room.

It was after he (Freddie) had passed and the caption under the photo was a quote from Maria stating," I miss him more every year that passes." :(

My uncle is diabetic also and so was my grandfather, but he died two years ago. :(

A PO Box would be nice so we can send her a note or two. This is so sweet that Luis & Issac are going to visit her. You can tell them that we really loved Freddie and my hubby also suffers from diabetes. Tell Issac to write a book so we can read about his life and what he's been through. I haven't been to Puerto Rico in years but, I wish I could go now.

I met maria years ago when she was on her book tour in the late 70's. she was sweet back then. I gave her a letter that day. she wrote back a few weeks later thanking me for the letter and sent an 8by 10 of freddie signed by her. I still have that to this day. I wrote to her that I didnt believe freddie commited suicide. and that I was a huge fan of his. in fact I have everything still of his including the movie he made on nbc. I taped it. its called million dollar ripoff

It's certainly very obvious here that we all want to see anything and everything in regards to our dear Freddie. I'm sure everyone here would love to see a copy of Million Dollar Ripoff (I know I would) and seeing his diary would be a definite added bonus.
When you are as interested in a person as we all are in Freddie Prinze Sr. hopefully there is a way we can all share in each other's treasures pertaining to him. I would LOVE to have a copy of Million Dollar Ripoff! Even if the plot is corny, (like I've read in some reviews) I bet Freddie was terrific in it!

I HAVE HEARD THAT LOUIS, LIVING ON THE SAME ISLAND AS MARIA WENT TO VISIT HER ON MONDAY BUT ISAAC HAVING TO TRAVEL FURTHER DECIDED TO WAIT BECAUSE SHE IS NOT UP TO SO MUCH COMPANY NOW WITH HER SISTER IN SUCH POOR HEALTH.

Yes, I had gotten in touch with Isaac shortly before his schedualed trip to see Maria and Luis. Isaac told me that he has spoken with Maria and she had indicated to him not to make the trip due to her poor health. She said to see him when she feels up to it. I then had got in touch with Luis and he said the same thing and was dissapointed that Isaac was unable to attend.
Luis was very happy to get in touch with Isaac after such a long period and are going to someday get together.. whether with Maria or in worse case scenario without her. I know they all meant well with the decision and there is no hard feelings with any one of them.

I'm so sorry to hear that she's not feeling very well. :(

So sorry to hear Maria isn't doing well & that she wasn't up to having Mando & Luis & therefore due to that they couldn't go. With her being diabetic, I know it can be hard to handle seeing people & going places.

My hubby & I are both diabetic so being one & having seen other diabetics I know what she must be going thru. With diabetes you tire out really easily. I know there are times when we are tired & not up to going to places or going out to see people because of it. We try to go & do as best as we can but we often have to stop & put a limit on what we do realizing we just can't handle it anymore. For example when we go on our annual trip to visit hubbys sister in Ohio which we did in Aug, since Mike can't drive anymore due to being legally blind from the diabetes, I have to do all the driving & with my diabetes I just can't handle going all that way in one day. So we travel partway up on the way up & back & stay overnite at a motel & do alot of stopping like seeing sights or going to malls etc so we don't tire out as bad. On weeks where we are super busy almost every day, it really tires you out.

So I can well relate to how she is feeling. I hope she will be doing better soon & able to visit with them. Hopefully someone will see this & send her our best wishes & let her know we know what she is going thru cuz we are going thru it too...

My grandfather had Diabetes (1923-2000) and my uncle has it. The only things I know regarding the disease is: testing the blood and taking insulin. My uncle goes though a certain attack when he misses a meal, he has to drink Orange Juice in order to calm himself down.

what you are referring to is called low blood sugar and drinking orange juice when you are low is the quickest was short of a glucose IV to get the sugar to your body when it needs it the most.
Diabectics must check their blood sugar levels many times a day and this is done by poking therir finger and using a blood tester machine to read the level and the level tells you if you need to take insulin and how much.
The thing with Diabetes is your blood sugar is rarely the same twice and it can go from low to high and back again in a very short period of time.
Low blood sugar is very hard on the body a person seats profusely and then may feel very cold and tired following one and it is very important all diabetcs should wear an id bracelet that tells of their condition should they not be able to.

She's right that is low blood sugar. My hubby & I get low blood sugar sometimes but he is worse with it than I am & get's it worse than I do. Twice he has almost died in this sleep & if I hadn't caught him & gave him orange juice he would've died. I once passed out in a store when trying on an outfit but got okay.

From what I have read Hispanics are at a high risk for it. So since Maria has it, if Freddie had lived he could've very well have gotten it. Healthcare, medicines & supplies for diabetics are very expensive. I sure hope she can afford them. Thank God hubby & I are on a free medical program at a local hospital as our healthcare & medicines are more than we can afford. Sure hope Maria gets better soon. We wish her well with her diabetes...

Thank you for educating me on this because I've witnessed him going through it before, but I wasn't aware of what was happening to him at the time and it was very scary.

You're right about the Orange Juice because it worked for him in a snap. Come to think of it, he does wear one of those I.D. bracelets. It has a medical symbol on it. :)

The same thing has happened to my uncle. One day, he was passed out on his apartment floor and had to be rushed to the hospital. Being that my cousin is now taking care of him because he parents,which were my grandparents, are now deceased, if she wouldn't have gotten off of work early, he wouldn't be here today. :(

Having Diabetes must be hard, you never know what can happen and I'm always worrying about him.I also hope Maria gets well soon. If Freddie were still alive today, he would be so worried about her health and would be so heartbroken over his father's death (although his sickness was surrounded by a different cause). :(

I agree with ya. Freddie would've been so worried & upset about his moms health & heartbroken over his dads passing. I think he would've cried & sobbed his heart out at his dad's funeral service. :(
