Apparently (https://officialfan.proboards.com/thread/627689/classic-tv-staying-power?page=7), it's never on TV (bar the cartoon) and Blackadder is more fondly remembered there, shown, referenced. All in all, it seems like most people in the U.S. know Mr. Bean more than Blackadder (even if just because of the movie).
