In the very funny episode, Barney becomes a realtor, even though he just started he already had plenty of deals, but if Mayberry is that hot of a real-estate market wouldnt they already have a realtor??

Good question, perhaps the old realtor stopped, I suppose.

I'm wondering how a town the size of Mayberry could get along after Floyd passed away, no replacement barber shop is ever shown.

I guess they all went to Mt. Pilot for a haircut.

Or maybe another barber set up shop, but was never as popular as Floyd.

Maybe the new barber didn't want the same group of men hanging around the barber shop day after day. I think they started meeting up at Emmet's Fix it shop during the last season.

Seemed more a matter of location, I suppose.

On Mayberry RFD Allan Melvin played a barber in one episode. He recommended Emmett get a toupee.

Good ole' Allan Melvin. He was used quite often on TAGS/Mayberry RFD in a variety of roles.

Same location as Floyd's barbershop, right next to the Courthouse, of course.

Watched the Loaded Goat episode again last night, really in depth depiction of the area behind the Courthouse including how icomes out as an alley on the other end of the black.

A refresher, please, who else did Allen Melvin play on the series?

Quite a list, good choice for the new barber in town.

They even had a reused script with the Allan Melvin playing the tough guy wanting to fight, first with Barney, then later in color with Howard Sprague.

They actually made Barney very smart in that episode. Why? Because it was Barney who was reaching out to various people to get them to buy each other's worn out houses. That wasn't luck, but a hidden skill that Barney possessed. Only at the end of the episode did Barney revert back to his usual spazzing character.

And then several episodes later you have Barney afraid of being jinxed where he has convinced himself that he can't pass his shooting test.

Allan Melvin was on so much he was almost a regular.

Remember he also threatened Barney when he ran the roadside produce stand just up the road from the Snack Bar.
