View Full Version : Who likes the ""gross"" foods and drinks that I like?
TheLittleFaerie 05-22-2023, 07:02 AM So from what I see, esp. from the younger generation ~gen Z particularly~ The stuff I like to eat and drink are not popular among most people... So I'm wondering who else likes these food and drink "rejects"
1.black liquorice ~I'd love a whole bag of just liquorice jelly beans lol~
2.Circus Peanuts ~A candy that takes me back to childhood~
3.Orange Slices ~I also love Cherry Slices, also takes me back to my childhood~
4.Candy Corn ~It's just not Halloween without it~
5. Lemon on my fish ~Apparently most people prefer tartar sauce....YUCK lol~
6. Coffee ~Apparently there are less and less coffee people as I'm always hearing people say, "EWWW YUCK, COFFEE!!", or "Eww I don't DO coffee unless it's ICE coffee or Frappa-Mocha-Latte-Ccinia", I'm talking JUST COFFEE!!!
7.Coca-cola, ~I mean just plain ol COKE! No Coke Zero, no Apple-pineapple-grapefruit-Hazelnut-coconut coke, just COKE! I do enjoy a Cherry Coke occasionally but mostly just like it plain.~
8.Mello Yello ~Another favorite drink from childhood now that has seemed to be forgotten by so many people
9. Junior Mints ~My favorite theater candy, but again, I'm always hearing, "Eww gross, jr. mints!" or "Jr Mints, what's THAT?"
ThisLittlePiggy 05-22-2023, 10:35 AM The only thing on this list I use regularly is coffee. I drink black coffee two cups a day. I love it.
Theda Bara 05-22-2023, 11:32 AM 3.Orange Slices: I think Orange Slices are delicious. Never tried the cherry flavored ones (they sound wonderful).
5. Lemon on my fish: I always squeeze lemon on my fish but I also like tartar sauce, both are fine with me (no preference).
7.Coca-cola: Coke Cola is awesome, there is nothing more refreshing than a cold glass of Coke. Even though I love Coke, I cannot drink on a regular basis like I used to. Sodas hurt my stomach now that I am older.
9. Junior Mints: My go-to candy while seeing a film at a movie theatre (only second to M&Ms)
Penny Lane 05-22-2023, 11:42 AM I like Candy Corn, Coffee and Coke but rarely ingest them. Candy corn on Halloween, Coke once in a while and I prefer hot tea over coffee but I generally order coffee in a restaurant.
JamesG 05-22-2023, 12:15 PM From that list pretty much just coffee and Junior Mints. I stopped all sodas years ago.
I really don’t like lemon on anything because it ruins the food as that’s all I taste.
HuntingtonM15 05-22-2023, 12:21 PM The things I like on your list (I'm an older Millennial):
Orange slices - I don't have this type of candy very often but I do like it.
Lemon on fish - I don't do it all the time, but I do squeeze lemon on seafood if they provide it with the dish. I'm also not a fan of tartar sauce. I think it's okay sometimes, but definitely not if it's onion-based.
Coffee - I drink it pretty much every day, although not always on weekends.
Coca-Cola - I don't drink soda very much anymore, but when I do it's Coke.
Junior Mints - Like with the orange slices, I very rarely eat them but I do like them.
Bonniegirl 05-22-2023, 12:58 PM I love black licorice, coffee, junior mints and Diet Coke
9. Junior Mints ~My favorite theater candy, but again, I'm always hearing, "Eww gross, jr. mints!" or "Jr Mints, what's THAT?"

Steve_uk 05-22-2023, 01:26 PM 1. Black liquorice.
2. I'm not sure what circus peanuts are but I like redskin.
5. Lemon on fish.
6. Coffee.
Also blackstrap molasses with Ryvita (crispbread).
Caroline13 05-22-2023, 01:32 PM I'll keep it brief, I don't find your list of foodstuff "gross". No interest in cokes or soda drinks, and I've been avoiding candy/sugars, so that's it.
Oh black liquorice I've liked so much but when I found it can raise blood pressure, I stopped buying it.
Billions in the world enjoy their coffee, I like it a lot and 1 cup a day is good for me. Coffee has some good health benefits....in moderation as with everything in life and none of the fancy sugary stuff so many are addicted on regarding coffee..
biffbronson 05-22-2023, 11:16 PM 2. I'm not sure what circus peanuts are but I like redskin.
Circus peanuts are a marshmallow-type of candy shaped like enormous orange-colored peanuts -- not real peanuts at all. There was a store near me that advertised real peanuts at about 8 cents per ounce, and I got their last few cans of redskins on the first day (sold out immediately).
The only thing on the list I won't go for: black licorice (& black jelly beans). About the only candy I just don't like at all.
Everything else is okay, though I'm not really a regular drinker of anything on the list. Fish with tartar sauce or horseradish-type, but lemon is fine too if it's good-tasting fish on its own.
TheLittleFaerie 05-22-2023, 11:56 PM I forgot to include Marshmellow Peeps, I LOVE those too lol... I used to call them Peep Chicks, pretending they were Pipchicks from I Dream of Jeannie lol

lol yeah I asked a woman at the store for Circus Peanuts and she had no clue what I was talking about, she directed me to the NUT AISLE lol
Dude111 05-22-2023, 11:59 PM I like #3 and 7 from your list :)

I'm a young Gen Xer, and I feel the generation gap with "Zoomers" but I relate to Gen Yers pretty well lol
Chocolate Moose 05-23-2023, 01:53 PM I'm diabetic so there is no way I can sit and eat candy
biffbronson 05-23-2023, 02:09 PM I didn't know you were diabetic. I have an uncle who has diabetes, yet despite being in his 80s now he's doing pretty well.
Aren't there some good sugar-free candy options for you? I used to work in a warehouse where part of the building was leased to a company that packaged those.
theoneandonlytvqueen 05-23-2023, 02:13 PM 1.I like red licorice. Twizzlers Pull and Peel is a favortive of mine.
4.Candy Corn - i'll eat at but after a while the taste gets to me.
5. I'll use a lemon when i have fish or shrimp.
7I I drink Coke or sometimes when I go to the Wendys, I will have a Cherry Coke.
9. I Like them too.
Marshmellow Peeps= I like them too IA couple of years ago I tried out each color. Now i just get the pink ones. But the toys are a big hit in my house.
Sweetarts- I enjoy these especially around Valentine's Day.
Yong Fang 05-23-2023, 06:00 PM If circus peanuts are boiled, then gross. I don’t know why anyone would eat a boiled peanut.
I can’t eat a “Junior Mint”. I like chocolate. I like mint. The two for me just don’t go together.
I am visiting my parents and my stepmother drinks coffee so I am drinking it with her. Coffee to me is like beer, best drank with someone else and it gives me a buzz. Her coffee is actually watery and not that great but its free. McDonalds for all of its faults, has great coffee。

Circus Peanuts are sweet marshmallow candy, in the shape of a big orange peanut, not actual peanuts
And yeah that's what the majority of people tell me in regards to Junior Mints, "Ewww mint and chocolate just don't go together" lol
That's why I consider my tastes a bit "different" from the majority

I love red licorice too, I can eat a whole bag of Twizzlers lol And I also always get a Cherry Coke at Wendy's, its about the only other version of Coke I like

Mmmm, yes they do . Mint and chocolate go great together. Like York Peppermint Patties, they are delicious too. :happyface
And I 've been craving black licorice after posting on this thread ! :D
I used to like Circus Peanuts as a kid, but not too much anymore. Too sweet.

My friend and I used to call York Peppermint Patties "Senior Mints" LMAO because we thought they were just larger versions of Junior Mints.

Oh I thought they were a snack you munched on whilst watching the elephants holding tails round the ring at the Moscow State Circus..
biffbronson 05-24-2023, 07:08 AM Here's a photo of those. (I prefer real peanuts, I'm a peanut fanatic.)
