If the show had returned for another season and Oliver had stayed on, I wonder if they would have had Oliver in the opening? I don't know where they would have put him lol I'm guessing the song would have to be altered a bit too, unless he just appeared at the end like Alice

If we're to believe that Robert Reed would have been fired (and I have a hard time believing the show would return without Mike Brady), then that opens up a square for him.

That possibility aside, I'd say that the most to least likely possibilities are:

1. He doesn't get a square
2. He shares one with Alice
3. They do away with the grid completely

We will never know. Oliver's stay was only supposed to be temporary as his parents went to South America. I always thought it was funny that his name was also the name that Vincent Price gave to his statute in the cave in Hawaii.

The squares were too iconic to do away with. I'd bet Sherwood would have happily done away with the Mike Brady square, and give it to Oliver.

You could have him pop up in other peoples' squares but the other kids keep pushing Oliver out of their square.

I feel either he would have been gone at the start of season 6, or he would have been there just in the end credits, no square in the intro.


I also feel that maybe if they wrote Mike out they might have kept him in the opening, regardless. Season 6 would have been the end for sure. If Mike was away, they could have just had him in offscreen phone calls. I don't think Sherwood wanted to kill him off. He had him there for the reunions. And who knows, maybe He would have missed a few episodes and maybe been back weeks later if they settled things. He wanted to be there but didn't like the ideas of the show anymore. I feel Sherwood would have had to agree to everyone wanting to do more serious episodes as they were growing up.


But Oliver wouldn't have been in the intro.


Unless they changed the theme lyrics, maybe they would have given him a square, but only if Mike was gone for good in season 6.
