Phyllis Lindstrom (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllis_Lindstrom) (Cloris Leachman (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072556/reviews)) was perhaps a bit much to be a sitcom lead (https://jacksonupperco.com/2015/06/02/the-ten-best-phyllis-episodes-of-season-one/). She was better as an occasional member of the supporting cast.

The initial (https://jacksonupperco.com/2015/04/28/the-ten-best-rhoda-episodes-of-season-one/) fantastic success (https://interviews.televisionacademy.com/shows/rhoda) of Rhoda and the show (https://jacksonupperco.com/2015/05/26/the-five-best-rhoda-episodes-of-season-five/)'s sharp decline (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071040/reviews) has been much discussed (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125331/http://www.jumptheshark.com/r/rhoda.htm), but not Phyllis (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125348/http://www.jumptheshark.com/p/phyllis.htm).

I really loved this show and was lucky enough to attend a filming of the 2nd season! Cloris was one of a kind and I was very surprised when the show was cancelled!

The 2nd Season was the best. I didn't like the way the possible 3rd Season going with Bess being pregnant as a teenager.

Yes, I would say it was a good show; It did finish in the top 10 in the first season! It did have cast and format change. That may have confused the public or could have had a bad time slot in the 2nd year. The characters were funny, and Cloris Leachman was great as Phyllis. Too bad it didn't stay on the air longer. I wish the show was available to purchase on DVD. I would love to have it in my collection:)

I didnt find her character all that likable so I would have never watched the show. Now Rhoda was likable and deserved a spinoff but Phyllis? lol

I don't remember seeing it much. I think Phyllis needed Mary to play off of, and that was missing.

I remember the old lady being pretty funny, but that's about it.
