I've had a carport storage area for 25 yrs and cleaned it out, got rid of so much clutter over the last 10 yrs, started to do this over 15 yrs ago...for me traveling light is what I want.

It's gas. They do make a hybrid model but no all electric. Nor do I want one.

I've lived in apts MOST of my long life, but have driven an auto for probably 60 yrs and my autos have been a great asset but also a problem when they are "broken"....CA is a driving state and I know NYC especially is not. I had to give up driving in 2017 due to body damage and don't miss that ownership.....

I don't get excited about the looks of an auto so much, just so it gets me where I want to go.

A 2020 Ford Escort, A mountain of tools, Work bench, garden tools, a Cub Cadet tractor mower, and a lot of junk that needs to be cleaned out. My husband also mounted our old kitchen cabinets after we got new ones.

My father was an airline pilot and would work overnight flights, and my mother and I would be home alone maybe two or three days a week (and he had a lot of time off).

One night it was just my mother and myself. I was maybe 10 years old at most. I know this because the Mary Tyler Moore Show was on TV when this incident happened. Across the street from our house was a convenience store and around the corner a fairly rough bar.

So we were in the living room watching Mary when.......

BOOM!!!

We went outside the residence (my mother and I in bed clothes) to see a big motorbike on the ground, and a long hair on his ass and another long hair running up. The first idiot got on that big bike and I guess got out of control and drove into our steel garage door. The door was bent out of shape and ruined, and garage doors are expensive. The guy started undoubtedly from the convenience store and lost control.

I was an elementary school aged child and vaguely remember the guys being apologetic. Were they drunk? Couldn’t say, parents didn’t drink and wasn’t exposed to that. I think the guy was a fool who couldn’t control that huge bike he was on.

My father was understandably angry when he came home, saw the ruined garage door and being out a few hundred bucks to install a new one. He wasn’t that mad but got that way at my mother as I’m why didn’t she do something about the guys? What could she have done? She was a 44 year old overweight woman with an 8 year old child. The dudes were cool but my mother couldn’t really stop them from leaving if she tries to prevent it. The Memphis Police even in the 1970’s were worthless and took an hour to respond to a call.

I guess it was as good my father wasn’t there because he probably would have tried to fight those guys and he would have been extremely pissed off. When my father is Stage 4 pissed fog and screaming, Mike Tyson would take two steps back. I don’t think my father had a pistol available back then, but it still would have been him pointing a pistol at two younger dudes and then wait for the Memphis cops to slowly show up and those two idiots probably didn’t have two bucks to rub together and that bike probably didn’t even belong to them.
