View Full Version : Why did Arnold from different strokes, appear on Silver Spoons as Arnold?
TVFactFan 08-24-2002, 06:59 PM i'm confused about something, why would arnold jackson appear on silver sppons as the different strokes character and ricky schroedor never appeared on different strokes as the silver spoons character? I found out Arnold was doing a school assignment which had something to do with his guest appearance
SBTB Geek 08-24-2002, 10:54 PM NBC probably just wanted to tie-in both of the shows. Maybe they wanted to boost Silver Spoon's ratings because Gary Coleman was very popular at the time.
BTW, that's one of my favorite episodes! It was funny how Ricky was getting in "trouble" for break into special government files! :D
Reminising like this makes me want miss the show even more. :(

I was thinking maybe because Silver Spoons came on right after Different Strokes-Was Arnold by hiself? or with someone else?
SOAPDYNASTY 08-24-2002, 11:30 PM That was a funny silver sppons episode with Gary Coleman.

Well sounds to me that this crossover did not make any sense. Especially since Silver Spoons was based in Calfornia and Different Strokes was in NY-so how could a teenager travel that far for a school assignment? Other crossover made sense, like Laverne and Shirley appear on happy days-both shows based in milwaukee

It's a television sitcom. It's not supposed to make sense. :D

Crossovers are supposed to make sense-not the actual show-

Judith A. Moose 08-25-2002, 04:19 PM The episode was a crossover between the two shows as a ratings boost for the first season of Spoons because the show was off to a very slow start and was low in the ratings. The producers thought that by having Gary Coleman make an appearance that the numbers may improve and indeed they did. That episode was the second highest rated for the show that season.
Also regarding the post of the two shows being set in different places... Silver Spoons was set in Shallow Springs, Long Island, New York.

So it sounds like a interesting episode-i always loved when shows crossover. I was thinking that one of the cast members from silver spoons appeared on different strokes. I did found out someone by the name of Leonard Lightfoot who was a cast member on silver spoons appeared on different strokes as a COP. But i did find out that Silver Spoons came on right on right after Different Strokes which made a littlew moresense
leejade 07-23-2004, 09:46 PM I have a question, since "Silver Spoons" aired on NBC and first-run
syndication in the United States, did "Silver Spoons" also air in Canada, if it did, what network?
