i remember the mother no longer being on the show by the 78-79 season but does anyone know how she was written off the show. All i remember is i didn't see her anymore.

As far as I remember, I don't think Mabel King's character was written out of the show (having died, or moved away, etc.) I think her character was still around, and back at home, she was just never seen.

Think about it..If Mama had left town, why would Dee still be around? A teenager living alone in a house by herself? Doubtful..

Well you bring up a good about dee would have been living home by herself espcially when raj moved out. You would think another person would have been put in her place so that it wouldn't havelooked like dee was always home without her mother

I think in the 79 season Shirley moved into the house with Dee, because she needed a place to live and Dee and her Mother were looking to rent out a room. That would explain Dee having "someone to look after her" but I still don't recall if Mrs. Thomas was oficially written out. I think she was just "working alot," or something.

That's right-i remember shirley living in the House to look after her-I didn't even think of Shirley-but you are right. I think rerun was the star of that show though because when what's happenng now started, it had everyone except rerun and the mom-but without rerun it wasn't the same

Mabel King did leave the show. I remember Raj and Dee using excuses like she was visiting sick relatives a couple of times. That's why Shirley moving into the house was eventually written in. I believe the real excuse was that Mabel King felt like she had nothing to do on the show and decided to leave.
