Here's my thoughts on the manner.

Obviously there's no justification for bigotry and Spike shouldn't of passed judgement on him the 1st time he meant Shelly but he turns out to be the bad guy when he let that suspected arsonist.


I often think Spike might have ended up liking him and it's amazing Shelly would have done what he did.
